Don’t track a lot of college football, but I know through 80’s and 90’s AZ college prospects did not pan out well in pros. AZ only came into it’s own recently for such a resort atmosphere six months a year.
i got a fusion which i think is pretty much the same as the mazda3. i hate it. the thing cant get out of its own way and i still only get about 23-24mpg highway.
I must say that I hope the Pats win this game because of Mr.Krafts wife and the way the team has rallied around him and dedicated this season to her. That my friends is class! May Mrs. Kraft RIP and I hope she is looking down from heaven watching this game with love and thanks to those whom she impacted during her life.
After pretty much just watching Cowboys games all year, it’s weird watching a game between two teams where all the offensive players know where to go pre snap
Hi, everyone. Just signed up after lurking in the shadows for quite some time. My motivation is simple: a life-long love of all things Dallas Cowboys. I was but a young child when we won 3 in 4 years in the early to mid 1990’s, but I still remember wearing my reversible Emmitt Smith jersey and delighting in all of the complaints from 49ers fans that they were hoping the Steelers would win in superbowl 30. While I am a relatively young fan, I have the utmost respect for those Cowboys I never had the privilege to see and am an avid Dallas Cowboys history buff. I enjoy the insight and knowledge of this community and consider this blog to be the best place on the planet to discuss all things Cowboys. Much love to all of you and I look forward to sharing my thoughts from time to time. GO ’BOYS!!!
Eagles are a bunch of thugs. The Giants beat us twice and beat Green Bay and San Francisco on the road. They deserved to win. Congrats to them. Wait till next year though.
I was laughing so hard at this football team when the Saints were dismantling them on Monday night earlier this year. How the hell did it come to this?
40 yards on a dime into double coverage. Over the outside shoulder to take it away from the safety. They use passes like that to teach high school QB’s how to throw the ball.
the empirical evidence as well as the evidence of your own eyes that goes contrary to your preconceived beliefs. By definition that is illogical. And you admit that nothing (i.e. overwhelming evidence to the contrary) will persuade you to go against your preconceived beliefs. So you are admitting to being illogical.
Well, then let me rephrase it. I'm well-acquainted with Manning's numbers. I've
watched many of his games. I’ve seen who played up and who played down in the games I watched. I’m well-acquainted with the opponents his team played. I’m well-acquainted with his team and players around him. The empirical evidence does not persuade me that he is a great QB. M’kay?
9 TD to 1 Int. 103+ QB rating. All against three of the top five teams in the league this year. Multiple accurate passes that only four or five other QB’s can make on a consistent basis. Super Bowl MVP. I’m not sure you’re using the correct definition of empirical evidence.
Or here, let me make it even clearer for you. Do I think Dumb Face is a good
QB? Yup. Do I think he’s on a par with Brady or Brees or his brother. No. I’ll buy top six or seven, sure. It’s going to take more than one good season on his part to persuade me otherwise. Still illogical? Tough.
there are only four great QB’s in the league? And if you think this was his only great season, go back and look at 2008 and 2009. He carried the 2009 team as much as he did this year.
Pretty much. 2008 they were one and done in the playoffs and
Manning’s rating for the year, at least the regular season was 86.4. Someone carried that team, but I’d venture to say the Giants D might have had something to do with it. Dunno, those numbers I didn’t look up. He was even pulled in one game, wasn’t he? 2009 they were 8-8. He did have the best rating of his career at 93pointsomething so he “carried” them to an even record. 2010, 31 TDs but 25 INTS and 5 fumbles, and an 85.3 rating. 10-6 and no playoffs. Don’t preach to me about your QB. I think he’s good. I don’t think he’s on the level of the others I named. You don’t like that, I can’t help it.
Eli Manning>Romo, not even close. If we had this man on our team, we would be the ones blowing out the Giants and the Eagles, not the other way around.
but if eli were on this team, the cornerbacks still couldn’t cover and we still wouldn’t be able to get enough pressure up front. moreover, i don’t think eli could beat very many teams from his back, which is where he’d be behind the cowboy OL.
Mikellie just completed a perfect 7-for-7 on KD’s playoff contest.
Before the division round began, he picked correctly all four division winners, the two conference championship winners, and the Giants to win the Super Bowl.
Congratulations, Mikellie, on a perfect 7-for-7. Well done, sir, and congratulations on your addition to KD’s 10-for-10 Hall of Fame (I know it’s only seven games, not ten, but this was harder.
No other team in the nfl has done this. Wild card teams have made runs, but they haven’t vastly improved their play like the 2007 and 2011 Giants. Teams like the 2005 Steelers and 2011 Packers got hot early on in December, and were clearly major threats by the time the playoffs started. The 2006 Colts got Bob Sanders back and were instantly better in large part because of that, though I guess their play is similar to the 2011 Giants D.
both of those guys played 8 games before the Giants december run (a few of them together) and the Giants defense was still godawful when they were on the field.
They didn’t just play, they played MUCH better than previously.
they actually got a little unlucky – two PIs that were definitely close, but on replay pretty clearly PI weren’t called. That balances out their luck with the fumbles somewhat.
This team killed the Falcons, played pretty darn well against the Packers, and played the Pats to a virtual draw, though I think they did get quite lucky against SF.
The Steelers (twice), Pats, and Colts have all had a serious amount of luck leading up to their titles. Its what happens in an NFL where there are no dominant teams. Championships and playoff games are decided yearly nowadays in the last 2 minutes. The winner is almost always lucky.
they key to winning the superbowl has generally been great qb play and defense, with some variation in terms of what % role each played in the success. Imo, we only have one of the two.
I thought the Pats had really good secondary play, they closed fast and hit wrs hard. Their pass rush wasn’t all that, but if Brady hits welker late in the game, we’re talking about the Pats holding the Giants to 15 points.
on the Super Bowl Stage……Eli came out the winner…twice now. Brady still has 3 rings but he COULD have had 2 more. Eli stopped him and has done it twice.
The Pats secondary played very well today I thought. Eli had 3-5 passes there were through very tight holes, and a few more where he hit wrs at the only spot they could make the catch.
That wr core is elite though. They are really good. Nicks is a top tier #1 and I think at this point, Cowboys fans have to admit hes more consistently productive then anyone we have.
Eli’s TEAMS have beaten Brady’s TEAMS. Much like Bradshaw’s teams twice beat Staughbach’s teams… I ask you, was Bradshaw better than Staughbach? Or were maybe his teams better?
Had Brady led Welker? That’s why Brady threw it to Welkers left shoulder. It was a very good throw and should have been caught. Welker had both hands on it
The safety was still quite a few feet from Welker, who really didn’t go very far to the left to attempt to catch it, he essentially spun in the air. I’m not saying Brady should’ve lobbed it, but gunning that in so your wr doesn’t need to do a 360 in the air is a standard nfl throw.
Should Welker have caught it? yes, but that doesn’t mean golden boy Brady is without blame. He throws that in stride, there is a decent chance that is a td.
When Eli Manning submitted his brain to the N.F.L. for inspection, he relaxed his pretense that nothing much was going on inside of it. The N.F.L. actually requires that prospects take an intelligence test — which is, of course, surprising to everyone outside the N.F.L…
The average test score for lawyers is 30 and for janitors is 15. The average test score for halfbacks, the lowest-scoring players, is 15, and for quarterbacks is 25. The head of scouting for the Giants, Jerry Reese, says, ‘’If a quarterback’s score comes in under 25, we worry; otherwise we don’t pay that much attention to it.‘’ Eli Manning scored a 39, putting him in the 99th percentile of last year’s two and a half million Wonderlic test takers. His brother Cooper (he was laughing as he spoke) said, ‘’I think the only guy who scored higher than Eli was a punter from Harvard who didn’t make a team.’’ (Actually, Pat McInally, the Harvard punter who scored a perfect 50, did make it on to the Cincinnati Bengals.)
But why does there always have to be one person who gets butthurt about a statement that is clearly a joke? Like I need to know his test scores. Yeah I know he doesn’t REALLY have down syndrome. But I’ll be damned if he doesnt look the part.
Defensively, they will start out a higher level then we will next season...
They could get a lot of value picking at the end of the first round. They will probably looking for a LB, TE, or even OG… Watch them score with a late rounder… Their OL was supposed to be a weakness this season. They are one of the older groups, but they managed to do their jobs. If they manage to shore up that group, I don’t see us making much headway. As of now, they have the better coaching staff.
They deserve it – that team has been playing awesome football for the last 2 months. The only game they really needed some bounces was the 49ers game. I think 2007 was a fluke, but I will recognize this as a legit superbowl team. A great qb, very talented wrs, and a DL that when on its game (it really has been a rare occurance for them outside the superbowl runs) is tough to get by.
And I think every Cowboys fan out there knew what was going to happen when Brady missed his wr 30 yards downfield up 2 with a 3 minutes left. We’ve seen that story play out before. Sigh.
As I updated a couple of weeks ago on KD’s Contest Page, only you had a chance at 7-for-7. No one else finished with more than four right.
I’ll see if I can knock out a FanPost to report results. It won’t get the visibility of KD’s posts, but I will publicize however I can your incredible feat (I have already been several places in the just past few minutes).
Here’s the link to your time-stamped picks – every winner of every division game, conference championship, and the Super Bowl – before the division round began.
NY has an awesome pass rush, that’s why they won the super bowl. Cowboys lack a rush. Without Ware we would just be pathetic. We need a good rusher to replace Spencer, move Rat to DE, and get a Calais Campbell type 5 tech.
they also had much better secondary play down the stretch
they were good in this game too.
The Giants were straight up position by position a better defense over the last 6 weeks of their season than Dallas was in 2011. They also didn’t have anyone as bad on their D as Newman was on ours.
I agree though that even if we don’t necessarily have a position for him in 2012, stacking up on pass rushers and secondary talent like the Giants have can’t hurt.
where both teams got in over better teams with sheer luck. the sb of the luckiest teams in the history of the league. dammit I just hate how everything just bounces their way. I’m sick.

but Hynoski ran over a DB or two in the Super Bowl, I noticed. Different technique, similar result.
The corner backs who go head-to-head with Hynoski (or any NFL fullback or tight end) and wrap him up are usually a) a little meatier than Newman, or b) extremely short-lived in the NFL, I suspect. Most DBs try to tackle the big guys just like this. It’s a calculated risk.
Hakeem Nicks at this point needs to be recognized as an elite #1. Hes got it all.
And that wr core – Nicks/Cruz/Manningham…this is two years in a row we’ve seen elite wr cores help their teams to championships, and with so-so line play, although the Giants line really stepped it up outside the SF game.
Manningham made some incredibly clutch catches down the stretch.
Down the stretch, they were much better. According to Sturm, Dumb Face
was sacked 8 times in December to Romo’s 19. You’re trying to tell me that Dumb Face moves in the pocket so much better than Romo that the differential has nothing to do with the O lines?
but I am saying that over the course of the SEASON, the protection wasn’t vastly different. Romo went through about a month of the season untouched. Considering we were that bad over the last month, that means over the first 3 months we were among the very best in the nfl. yet our offense didn’t produce much. I’m not trying to put that at Romo’s feet, I’m just saying if you’re going to bring up December, lets remember that there were 3 months before that were the Giants had far worse protection than us.
Their protection wasn’t fantastic today, and was downright terrible in the 49ers game. While it sure helped them get by us and the Packers, their line was not the difference between them and the Pats or them and the 49ers. Which is the point I’m trying to make to BED.
And no, I’m not saying the different between those sack numbers is all Eli moving in the pocket.
Over the course of the season, our O line was among the best?
I beg to differ, since sacks don’t even tell the whole story. It was plenty ugly before December. Up until those last games, the protection was NOT consistently the best in the NFL if you consider the beating Romo took. Better yet, have you seen how many rushing TDs the Cowboys had this year? Five, and one was by Romo. You and I both know that Romo’s broken rib did not come on a sack, nor did that badly damaged hand. In some games, the O line was fine, like against the Rams, for example. Yippee. They looked okay against the Lions for a half (ditto the Jets game). There are three games. Remember the SF game, the second game of the season? Remember how the line played in the first Redskins game? How about the Miami game? Remember The Drive when Romo was pounded over and over? They were horrific, and all of that preceded December. And then they completely fell apart at a time when the Giants were coming together to make their run. We most definitely disagree about today. Manning wasn’t just moving around in the pocket flawlessly, as you say. There were a whole lot of plays where he was standing in there comfortably. I envied both of the O lines I saw today. Oh, and BTW, the Giants line wasn’t good against what was probably the best D in the league (SF), and old Eli wasn’t that good either. It took two special teams disasters from SF for the Giants to win.
Now, do I think the line or Manning were the main difference in the Giants run? No. Their defensive front was key, IMO.
but lets not forget the perfect protection once Romo came back into the 49ers game that allowed us to retake the lead. No team had good protection against the 49ers this year (ask Eli), but we managed to put multiple drives together when it mattered most.
It was solid against the Jets. It was solid against the Lions for 3/4 of that game. It was solid against the Giants in the December game.
Not to mention, Romo played like a month with broken ribs and was virtually untouched. You mention how we shut out teams like the Rams and Seahawks? WEll the Giants did not. Romo would’ve been in a far worse position with broken ribs behind the Giants line during the season.
and again, I’m agreeing that we played like crap in december.
For much of this season though, the OL was actually pretty good. You could argue that the Pats, Giants (2nd game) and Eagles losses were in large part on the OL and I’d agree.
But I think you’d also have to admit they were flat out dominant in the Lions game, helping us to that huge lead, I think Romo only took one or two serious hits in the month after he broke his ribs, which was obviously very important. They also did a very solid job run blocking at that point, also critical. Once again, the Giants did not offer their qb that type of protection during any 4 game stretch of the regular season
I think we'll have to agree to disagree. The fact that they
were solid for 3/4 of the Lions game did not help an ailing QB when the chips were down. That third INT was on Romo for deciding to throw, but the reason it was an awful throw was because the O line was pushed back in his face. That’s my point. They could not be relied upon to to play four quarters any more than the D could. Yes, they played better once Romo came back vs. SF, but watch the highlights again. He was also hit more than once (it was bad enough that you can hear Brad Sham saying Romo was done and it was a bad decision to put him back in), and it’s hard to be grateful to them since they were the reason he broke the rib in the first place. I’ll say it again. They were awful vs. Philly. Twice. They were awful vs. Miami. They were awful vs. Arizona. They were awful vs. the Redskins in the first game. Romo, broken rib and all was scrambling around trying to recover Costa’s bad snaps. I’m not trying to be mean or unfair to these guys, but there’s a reason why we will see more changes on the O line and why Garrett and Jones have admitted that the O line experiment this season was a failure.
They did a good job blocking for Murray, but I credit Murray, given that the run game vanished again once he was out. And there again, I repeat, only five rushing TDs all year?
Just needs a chance on the big stage. And he will sink the 8 ball as Jimmy Johnson likes to say. Just needs a better supporting cast, especially on defense.
Yeah, it sucks that the Giants beat us, but they beat everyone else when it mattered, too. And we played them well in at least one of our games. And they’re picking last in the Draft.
If it’s so painful for you, don’t watch the Super Bowl. I like football. If the ‘Boys aren’t in it, I’m going to choose a team. I enjoyed the entire post-season—but then again, I’m not a member of the Cowboys organization. I’m just a fan. It’s just a game.
And my point was that the Giants, not the Pats, knocked us out of the playoffs. The Pats aren’t NFC East, so I have no loyalty to them. Also, Bellichick is a known cheater, and while other coaches have certainly cheated, I don’t know any who got caught, are still coaching, and are still highly-regarded. I have no reason to root for the Patriots. I might even have to quash any moral sense to do so. I’m glad they lost.
Point being: it’s not so shocking to pick or even cheer for the Giants (/against the Patriots) if the Cowboys are out. If that makes me less of a fan in the eyes of the self-appointed faithful here, I can dig it.
to people who don’t care what you think and won’t be swayed by your opinion? You’re not a True Fan and anything you write to explain yourself is merely an excuse that falls short.
BTW, let me repeat, I do NOT think you are less of a fan for rooting
for the Giants. I may not get it, but I wouldn’t make that judgement. I’m also not less of a fan for not rooting for the NFC East outside of the Cowboys.
If that makes me less of a fan in the eyes of the self-appointed faithful here, I can dig it.
How many “self-appointed” faithful questioned your fandom? Thousands? Or maybe one or two who actually care whom you cheer for? You’re quite the martyr. Better yet, those of us who rooted for the Pats lack your “moral sense”? Or is that not what you meant to imply?
See, I think rivalries are fun. The NFC East teams are hated rivals. I wouldn’t root for the Giants or the Redskins. I wouldn’t root for the Eagles with a fanbase that would cheer that a player is down and paralyzed. That offends my moral sense. See? It’s differences that make the world do ’round.
No. That would be the guy who wallows in the fact that his team didn’t make the playoffs, then picks a fight with someone who just moves on. Which, by the way, I’m doing with this conversation and you in general. See ya.
in the last 15 years the only team to “emerge strong” has been the GIants.
The Eagles were a powerhouse in the early 2000s that somehow always came up short. They were probably a few plays (the carolina lineman falling on McNabb and breaking his ribs, the Jurevicious long td early in the Bucs game, any number of plays in the Cardinals game) from being a dynasty.
In the Free Agency era, the East has not really been all that great. I’d probably rank us over other divisions in terms of number of competitive teams per year, but the North (Packers and Bears), South (Bucs, Falcons in 98, Saints recently) and West (Rams in early 2000s, Seahawks, Cardinals) have been just as productive as our division in terms of SB represenation.
Am I the only person sick/halfway proud at this point? Proud for the division, but sick because I ONCE again have to endure watching a GIANTS team that we can/should’ve beat. A team full of players, we either lost to FA, didn’t draft, or just completely didn’t know was on the radar. I give respect to the Giants and all, but when can we emerge from the NFC to claim our respect?
Thank you everyone, I am still trying to get completely acclimated, but this is by far the classiest and most detailed Dallas Cowboys resource online. IMO of course! :)
CAN WE PLEASE GET THIS MAN??!!!!
He should come relatively cheap, and by all accounts, if not for his injury, would he not have been the Giant’s best CB?
DeCastro, Glenn, or Konz in the first.
Best CB Gilmore, Minnifield, or Hosley in the 2nd.
try and trade up for Ta’amu in the late 2nd or take Chandler Jones or M. Martin in the 3rd.
M. Brewster in the 4th
Ratliff/Lissemore
Ta’amu/Brent
Hatcher/Spencer
Ware/Lee/Carter/Spencer
Jenkins/M. Martin or FA/Sensabaugh/A.Ross or T. Thomas
Scandrick in the slot with 2nd rd CB coming in for Dime package.
Could always try and make a play for a Pass rushing upgrade @ SOLB or DE opposite Ratliff. If we could just get a good NT and DE I think our front 7 could be formidable.
Eli is probably a HOF QB. The kid is cool under pressure and is a pure killer in the 4th Q. He’s got 2 Super Bowls and who knows what’s next.
however, to this lay person’s eyes, Romo is more talented and more skilled than Eli. That’s cold comfort I know, but it’s an advantage the Cowboys have.
I don’t know that we’re disagreeing, or… really I don’t know what your point is. Is it your point that because Romo never has won anything he never will? Because that’s absurd.
in terms of yards, completion %, TDs, etc… far above Eli.
Eli has won 2 super bowls but has inferior stats in comparison to Romo. So, as I said earlier, to this lay person’s eyes, Romo is more skilled. I don’t see how you don’t understand that.
Also, you do understand that Eli isn’t the Giant’s pass rush, right? Wins and QB acumen don’t necessarily coincide.
i think you mean Romo peak ranking cannot be as high as Eli right now but they are in the same class
i hate to do this but on a scaled down perspective
Eli- Elway Romo – Marino
both will get their props but Elway will always be considered better because he broke through in the same time period and got to the top even though Marino may be one of the best ever at his craft and has the numbers to back it up
I’m observing that Romo appears to me to be a more skilled QB than Eli in terms of ability. If Romo > Eli, then the Cowboys have a fair shot at a Super Bowl championship just like the Giants.
Also, I’m not one to say that one player was better than another. Elway vs Marino and so forth… it’s a pointless argument.
I'll repeat what someone else said earlier but Eli's TEAMS
won those rings. Eli wasn’t on the d-line, which played a big role in those wins. Going by your logic, Dilfer and Brad Johnson were better QBs than Dan Marino.
unless he played on the d-line, he was on thte team that won it
He was a good QB, but not HOF great. The point was that SB rings aren’t a good barometer of how good the QB is but how good the team is that he’s apart of.
But I have never seen him as consistently clutch as Eli. I gained a lot of respect for both of them this season, actually. If Romo can get an O-line, one more solid DB, and a pass rush threat opposite DWare, we could go deep in the playoffs next year.
I think its pretty clear that the Cowboys can win a SB, or at the very least make a couple playoff runs with Romo. I do agree he appears to be more talented, though I think we pretty severely underrate Eli’s pocket presence, which is Brady-like at this point imo. Guys get around the corner all the time and Eli always steps up at exactly the right moment. I also am beginning to question why so many other teams are successful through period of poor OL play while our offense grinds to a halt (looking at JG).
Eli was simply great in the clutch this year, and it seems like every time I watch him hes leading his team back from a 4th quarter deficit (especially against us). I don’t really know how I feel about a qb’s “clutchness” as a personal trait, but this year Eli made tons of plays in that situation and its the reason his team was near playoff position in week 15 as opposed to 5-9.
Hes a great qb and at this point I would argue with anyone who has him outside their top 7 or 8 (same level as Romo)- call him dumb face all you want, this was a pretty extraordinary year. He carried the team on his back the first 3 months, and when the team played up to his level (something Romo’s rarely experienced), they looked like a superbowl caliber team.
well now the Eli is HOF i can only look forward to the Romo bashing next year
cant take this aside from 2007 the last time i the Cowboys were legit contenders I was 6 years old.
I would like to see Dallas do anything of significance at some point in my life that i will be able to remember and not have to refresh my memory through NFL Films tapes
Eff it, the Romo/Ware window is short anyway, get Nicks, keep Laurent, get Calais or Finnegan or both. Spend that money, get that talent.
One year I want public perception of Dallas to not be overrated chokers
its so rough, aside from 07 since the 03 season i cant even purely root for them
I’ve perfected straight face lying when I brag about Dallas breaking through only to watch them fail another season in a new tale of heart-breaking fashion
the Campo days were fun because there were no expectations, no maximized levels of embarrassment, just play ball and hope to get better, not get scrutinized all season only to succumb to the critics predictions
I just want to be “convinced” that they are for real at some point when their backs are against the wall, not lose 4/5 after winning 5 in a row and blow a 12 point lead in 3 minutes that would have clinched the division against the eventual super bowl champs
Dallas just sparked the Giants title run for the second time this decade
I’m worried about how Jerry is gonna think about this…His squad had the Giants dead to rights, but fell apart. Dallas almost beat Tom Brady in Foxborough, but as became customary, the defense fell apart.
I’m concerned that Jerry thinks these current Cowboys are on the verge of a championship. Dallas is not on the same level as the Patriots or Giants as an organization, and it shows on the field.
Romo is a very good QB, but he can’t do it all. Brady, Eli, Rodgers, Peyton, Brees, all really good QB’s none won a championship by themselves. Defense came up huge for all of their Super Bowl runs, look it up.
With Dallas’ defense as it stands right now, the Cowboys wont sniff the Super Bowl until it is fixed, no matter how well Romo plays.
The Giants have had two successful playoff runs on the back of their D in large part.
The Giants draft secondary and pass rush talent heavily in the early rounds.
If Jerry does that, I would not complain.
Heck, this may even be a good thing – I was worried for a while there that we’d see an all offense, Pats-Packers SB where the defenses were atrocious, which could convince Jerry all we need is the next elite TE or WR.
Super Bowls I’ve seen in a while. I think we’ve been spoiled with the last 4-5 SBs, were all so epic. Not until the very last minute or so did things even really get interesting. It was also a really quick SB.
I feel like any one of 5 teams could have or should have been in this SB: New England, Giants, Baltimore, Green Bay, 49ers. I don’t think the Pats or Giant were really better than any of the other teams, and if they play their games over 10 out 10 times, don’t think the outcome would be the same.
Oh well, even the sun shines on a dog’s ass some days.
Well, if Gil Brandt said that, then it must be true! People always think the Super Bowl is the most exciting right after it happened. Just wait and see how people judge this one in a few years time (it doesn’t even compare to the 07 season/08 SB). Most everybody I have been talking to—fans of all different types of teams—share the sentiment.
All you have to do is look above to see MANY Cowboy fans giving your team respect and props, despite the fact that your QB is inferior to ours, your WR core is inferior to ours, your RB core… well you get the point. Your D-line won the Superbowl for you, be happy, savor it and please prepare for some intense divisional games next year. Don’t be a crappy winner.
And here we go.

CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
if you know what's good for you, you better agree with her
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
LOL, I am good at compromise.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
That was a pretty easy lesson to learn...
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
Why can't I get rid of this stupid SB nation newsletter at the top of my screen to go away
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
I ended up signing up for it so I wouldn't have to deal with anymore
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
and I am already signed up for it but it is still there
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
Ugh, when annoyance into submission fails...

TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012

CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
Bradys jersey sure is clean
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
O-lines are BA.
Gmen underrated. Giants have been hitting brady.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
They have been? Looks to me like he's had all the time in the world.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
They timed one TD throw. 5.17 seconds before he threw the ball.
Rena - February 5, 2012
I haven't seen it
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Remeber when the GMen were dominating at the line, They aren't anymore.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
I think their playing on artificial turf....but I get your meaning...
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012

CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
The widow of Robert Kraft?
I think they mean the late wife.

mdlusk - February 5, 2012
Yessssssssssssss.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012

BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
A rare deviation, along with Al Micheals, Tillman and Woody,
From the ASU/UA Fail in Pro FB rule.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
I have no idea what you are saying here.
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
I'm from AZ.
Don’t track a lot of college football, but I know through 80’s and 90’s AZ college prospects did not pan out well in pros. AZ only came into it’s own recently for such a resort atmosphere six months a year.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
TOUCHDOWN!
CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
Tyron over Nate
Man I’m glad we drafted T. Smith over Solder. Solder getting owned by Tuck. Tyron was stone-walling Tuck when we played giants.
JesseWar3 - February 5, 2012 via mobile
HELL YEAH! With the #9!!!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Tyron is a beast
CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
Terrible defense
Mojoness - February 5, 2012
Well executed drive.
oldboysfan - February 5, 2012
It's weird watching a game where I'm so indifferent on both teams...
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
Bring another trophy to the BEAST!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
nah thanks
CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
That would make it 12...more than a quarter of all Superbowls played...no other division is remotely close...
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
Hat tip, OCC.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
I still am undecided on who I want to win.
GalTex - February 5, 2012
I don't like the Pats,
but I HATE the Giants. Easy pick for me.
lildrummerboy - February 5, 2012
I'm not indifferent. I hate the Giants with the heat of 10,000 supernovas. It's just that I only
hate the Pats with the heat of 9,999 supernovas.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
LOL
Rena - February 5, 2012
that's pretty much it ...
and why I’m undecided
GalTex - February 5, 2012
that's one supernova's difference in heat
do you know how much heat is produced in a supernova?
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
1 BTU?
8^)
GalTex - February 5, 2012
My guess is a lot...hehe
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
Uh, could the Pats special teams be careful now? Please?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
“Tom brady so calm in the pocket…” Why wouldnt he be? theres no pressure!
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
Bring Madonna back....
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
dammit
CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
And Dumb Face had an hour, too. These O lines make me cry.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Off subject, but how crappy is it that Charles Haley got the shaft from the HOF again?
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Pretty sad.
Rena - February 5, 2012
Maybe they were afraid what he would do at the induction ceremony.
Rena - February 5, 2012
there may be more truth to that than you know
GalTex - February 5, 2012
He would probably be in
Had he never put that star on his helmet
bobkatfilbin - February 5, 2012
What made it worse was the guys that got in ahead of him...
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
Heresy!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
And 2 mother effing stealers!
The Cowboys hate/bias is infuriating.
fs65 - February 5, 2012
Well, no real reason to miss sleep for this. I am going to assume the Pats win and go to bed.
Night guys, cya tomorrow.
Rena - February 5, 2012
Good night!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012

DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
OUCH.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012

GalTex - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
PAT'S D
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Cannot wait for this to be over ...
Let’s end the season. Get to Free Agency.
The combine.
The Draft.
And the next year.
I hope both these teams lose.
bloodyhanded - February 5, 2012
Damn, those Pats players are laying hard hits.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Its amazing what happens when your secondary can tackle
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Yup.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012

brb buying a fiat
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
I Googled it.
Nice little alternative to VW bug, which is too feminine, and Mini and WRX type stuff which are too mainstream.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
I got the Mazda 3 and am very happy so far.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
i got a fusion which i think is pretty much the same as the mazda3. i hate it. the thing cant get out of its own way and i still only get about 23-24mpg highway.
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
I almost spent the extra money on it because Ford did not take the bail out. But I did not.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
I like the looks of the new bug
GalTex - February 5, 2012
yea i like it too but i would still never buy one unless it got ridiculous gas mileage.
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
get the TDI
GalTex - February 5, 2012
I have a 2001 Golf TDI ...48mpg hwy
GalTex - February 5, 2012
Yeah, VWs rock!
except in AZ diesel is expensive.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
bet it's still competitive, though
GalTex - February 5, 2012
For sure.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Fiat commercial? They still make those cars?
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012

mdlusk - February 5, 2012
woohoo im glad peyton wasnt there. i took the under on his appearances.
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
The more I watch
The more I want offensive line in the draft… Like every pick…
Romo would be awesome with that kind of time.
Mojoness - February 5, 2012
with Laurent Robinson to throw to.....yeah
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
Tempting, isn't it?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
find me a center and 2 guards and we'll talk
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
At least Romo has a hotter wife than Eli...that kinda makes not playing in the Superbowl more palatable...
CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
no one feels for Indy??? i mean remember last year when Pitt when into our house and we didnt want them to see them hoist the trophy
what about Indy??
pinoyintegrity - February 5, 2012

CaliCowboysFan92 - February 5, 2012
Seinfeld is STILL doing nothing....lol
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012

CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012

CaliFanInTx - February 5, 2012
I love Seinfeld
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
And then hear Brad Sham say...
“Dallas is on top of the mountain. And they should stay there for awhile”
Professor1 - February 5, 2012 via mobile
Brady with about 10 seconds.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Well I was going to start commenting in the threads but...
I am watching the game on NFL.com and there is obviously a delay in the time. JPP just went down on but I already knew that cause of ya’lls comments.
mho - February 5, 2012
Brady ran right into that. That looked weird.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
the hell is Brady doing
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
we all know Romo would have juked jive and double rolled
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Yeah, I want to see him in SB, but IDK... Team has other things going on IMO.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
do a barrel roll
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
Ugh, the Giants will score here.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
dumb face pick 6
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Okay, great minds think alike. See below.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Unless Eli unleashes the dragon
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
What would I give for a pick 6 by Dumb Face here?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
OL
Anyone want to complain about the value of an OL. Sign Nicks sand draft DeCastro. Protect Romo= shot at SB.
pfloyd1 - February 5, 2012
Nope, no complaint here. This game shows what a good one means.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Head's up football
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Lucky yet again. Fumble recovered by the Giants.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012

DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012

BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
yeah, real heads up
to have the ball bounce right to you
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012

Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
+1
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
Seriously, is there a team that is as lucky as the Giants. Its hilarious.
slimbig - February 5, 2012
I would normally route for the NFC but...
I must say that I hope the Pats win this game because of Mr.Krafts wife and the way the team has rallied around him and dedicated this season to her. That my friends is class! May Mrs. Kraft RIP and I hope she is looking down from heaven watching this game with love and thanks to those whom she impacted during her life.
mho - February 5, 2012
Me too
Plus I don’t want to hear how the Giants are elite
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
Look at that pass/catch. Are 'Boys at that level?
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
with decent protection
dallas is heads and shoulders above that level
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
But that's the trick
“with decent protection”
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
The one a few seconds ago? Hell, yes.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
That was pretty sharp.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Yup, and I've seen the Cowboys do it umpteen times.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
zzzz
im ready for some WILFORK
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
My super bowl wishes this game could be coming true
Brady injured so someone else could win it for the patriots
Mojoness - February 5, 2012
Sack!
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Pats defense may give up tons of yardage
but they dont give up many points. Stating the obvious of course.
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
zzzzzz
ooooooooo that was almost blocked
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
whats up with all the zzzzzz in your post
just curious.
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
I think he's z'ing to eliminate posts he's read and continuing to do it before he posts.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
ah, i see
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
z unmarks comments so i spam it often.
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
Pats have had far worse field position.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Giants had decent position to start with on that drive
Good to only see 3
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
Decent? They started in Pats territory.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
I'm not used to this
After pretty much just watching Cowboys games all year, it’s weird watching a game between two teams where all the offensive players know where to go pre snap
OhFudge - February 5, 2012 via Android app
LOL.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
See that scoop.
Heads up football.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Hynoski MVP so far
DAMN YOU CHAPASS, if we had Hynoski we’d be the best team in the league right now!
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
15-17 odd score.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Gift 2 pts to start game
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
Brady is from Michigan, he sucks
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
HA!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
3 SBs says your wrong
Definitely not a Pats fan, but have to defend Michigan.
Sean N - February 5, 2012
you're
Sean N - February 5, 2012
no OT this game
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
I really thought the Giants would be getting after Brady in this game.
mho - February 5, 2012
The last 15 minutes of the season.....
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
YYYEEAAAHH!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
HOW IS THAT NOT PI ON BLACKBURN
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
Dammit Brady
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
BLACKBURN MUGGED THE RECEIVER!
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
WHAT!?!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
At least, not at the end of the play after they ran downfield.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Brady chucking it up for an INT. Ummmm...
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Hahahahahaha!
Mojoness - February 5, 2012
if that were eli's stupid luck it would be a td instead
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
uh well i guess it didnt look so bad from the replay but it sure did look like he shoved him good
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
IF Gronk was healthy
that would have been a completion. Can’t blame Brady for trying.
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
Lordie. I hope you'd say that about our QB.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
And again, heads up football.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
z
more luck for them giants
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
LMAO. So lucky.
slimbig - February 5, 2012
Surprise!
Ball bounces the Giants way.
Sean N - February 5, 2012
fumble recovery by NYG. i've seen this before
pinoyintegrity - February 5, 2012
And again, the Giants get the fumble back. I freaking hate them. Irrational? Yes.
I don’t care.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
They have more luck than a leprechaun
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
I'll say it again. I've never seen anything like it.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
i HATE the giants
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
that's the understatement of the year
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
sooo lucky on that fumble and that was delay of game
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
I will take luck.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
what happens when it runs out
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
I hope I get to see it.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
NE has luck for days, do you watch their FB?
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Nope. Does that change the fact that the Giants are lucky?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Pats get a lot of favors...
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
They need 'em against a team with that much luck.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
But against the 'Boys?
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Nope, when they play the Cowboys, they just suck.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
:)
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Just saying, don't hate ;)
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Why would I not hate the Giants?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Giants
Are subpar as far as superbowl teams…
Pretty obvious
Mojoness - February 5, 2012
They beat an 18-0 Pats team......
then they beat the “greatest coach/qb combo” in history again. How is that sub par ?
football mensa - February 5, 2012
9-7 and they certainly got more than their fair share of good bounces
the ’85 Bears, or any of the great SB teams, they are not.
Sean N - February 5, 2012
I agree, ubt the NFL is about parity now.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 7, 2012
Refs helping out NY
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
again?!
GalTex - February 5, 2012
its clear that Gronk can't do much......he's barely able to run much less make cuts....
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
wanna bet the flag is on NE?
Sean N - February 5, 2012
no surprise there!
Sean N - February 5, 2012
Bloody hell.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
GOT to get pressure on eli.....or he'll kill ya
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
yea i dont know how spikes didnt get that
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
Mistimed jump
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
Damn it's frustrating watching these two QB's in the superbowl without Romo
Back-to-back Brady chuck up an INT, then Eli cant throw a spiral
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012
ahh more Giant ACL tears
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
Why?
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
what do u mean why
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
ACL tears suck.
Not that I think you were routing for a Giants injury. I hate to see anyone injured.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
i was just saying what I thought i saw
Trueblue122 - February 5, 2012
Gotcha Bro.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Cowboys rings - a great sight
oldtimer - February 5, 2012

GalTex - February 5, 2012

illcowboy - February 5, 2012
why would you dvr THIS game?
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
I'm not

illcowboy - February 5, 2012
Yeah, who the hell watches live tv anymore?
Mikellie - February 5, 2012
I'm done blogging for a while. Gonna watch game. Eli is rockin.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012

TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Long-time lurker
GO ’BOYS!!!

illcowboy - February 5, 2012

mdlusk - February 5, 2012
Good point
illcowboy - February 5, 2012
Whining Giants
Earlier this year it was explained the DB can have his hand on the WR the just can’t move the WR with it
50yrcowboy - February 5, 2012
Collinsworth is explaining it just that way right now.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
who's the MVP so far?
pinoyintegrity - February 5, 2012
hynoski duh
DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012

mdlusk - February 5, 2012
3 ft 1 Woodhead. Aka. Hobbit
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
Giants cry for every call
May be why they get so many
50yrcowboy - February 5, 2012
The Pats had better get it out of there, or this could be bad.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
WHy is Collinsworth crying? The Giants, Steelers and Ravens do that all the time.
That’s how the play the ball.
slimbig - February 5, 2012
He's not. He said it was a good play by the DB.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Come on Tom!!!! FINISH THEM!
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012

Giants dropping like flies
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Maybe he's doing a flop to slow the Pats down. It's like a TO, since the Giants have blown
Or maybe he's really hurt.Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
they have been known to do just that
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012

Fernie67 - February 5, 2012

TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012

unparde_7 - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
Do you know how many times we will have to hear and see this? Ugh
I hate them.
saki - February 5, 2012

saki - February 5, 2012
This could actually be a good thing
Chances are Brady gets the ball back
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Why is everyone rooting for the Patriots???
Tom Brady? The fans Belicheck??? SCUM
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012

unparde_7 - February 5, 2012
+1
saki - February 5, 2012
rooting against the Giants really.
Sean N - February 5, 2012
why would we root for the our division rival?
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
atleast they're a respectable football team that actually plays defense
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012
They dont deserve to be where they are IMO
hence the intensity of the hate
Sean N - February 5, 2012
and the Pats do deserve to?
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012
more than the Giants
Sean N - February 5, 2012
not really
The GMen beat GB and SF. The pats beat Tebow, and the ravens only because of a missed FG
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012
I hear ya man
but screw that. I will not root for anyone from the nfc east to win a super bowl
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
you wouldn't root for Dallas?
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012
of course not. What? You think im a cowboys fan?
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
nah. just a Tarheel
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - February 5, 2012
Respectable?
The call out Dallas fans!
Talk trash
NO CLASS whatsoever
And definitely not respectable
saki - February 5, 2012
You mean like the awesome Brandon Jacobs? Or the D that does flops to stop

Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
nobody likes the pats but everyone hates the giants
mdlusk - February 5, 2012
YAASSSS!!
saki - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
As opposed to
Giants? Really?
Mojoness - February 5, 2012
Are you kidding?
Because the Giants are a hated rival
bobkatfilbin - February 5, 2012
I hate the Eagles a lot more than the Giants.
Eagles are a bunch of thugs. The Giants beat us twice and beat Green Bay and San Francisco on the road. They deserved to win. Congrats to them. Wait till next year though.
Mikellie - February 5, 2012
Nice throw numuts
Mojoness - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012

BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
The TD
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Truly, I support the TD, not eaving it in FG kicker's hands
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Yeah
kind of a catch 22
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Welker should have made that catch
BrickTop - February 5, 2012 via mobile
Simple as that.
Omar Little - February 5, 2012
Too much anticipation while the ball floated.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012

Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012

DavidLaFleur - February 5, 2012
talking about how we said the exact same thing at the exact same time
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012
Cement your legacy Tom Terrific
TARHEEL PAUL - February 5, 2012

and playing against the Pats without their best offensive weapon

The law of averages went out the window this season as far as lucky giants bounces go
unparde_7 - February 5, 2012
I know me too. My fave non Cowboy game
saki - February 5, 2012
yet another Eli toss up down the field...but this one wins a super bowl
simply unbelievable
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
That was a picture perfect pass
40 yards on a dime into double coverage. Over the outside shoulder to take it away from the safety. They use passes like that to teach high school QB’s how to throw the ball.
bigbluethruandthru - February 5, 2012
Sheli probably gets mvp
oldtimer - February 5, 2012
That's certain. Nothing can persuade me that he's great. Good? Yes. Great? No.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Well
at least you can admit you’re illogical.
bigbluethruandthru - February 5, 2012
Where did I admit that?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Refusing to believe
the empirical evidence as well as the evidence of your own eyes that goes contrary to your preconceived beliefs. By definition that is illogical. And you admit that nothing (i.e. overwhelming evidence to the contrary) will persuade you to go against your preconceived beliefs. So you are admitting to being illogical.
bigbluethruandthru - February 5, 2012
Well, then let me rephrase it. I'm well-acquainted with Manning's numbers. I've
watched many of his games. I’ve seen who played up and who played down in the games I watched. I’m well-acquainted with the opponents his team played. I’m well-acquainted with his team and players around him. The empirical evidence does not persuade me that he is a great QB. M’kay?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
65% completion rate
9 TD to 1 Int. 103+ QB rating. All against three of the top five teams in the league this year. Multiple accurate passes that only four or five other QB’s can make on a consistent basis. Super Bowl MVP. I’m not sure you’re using the correct definition of empirical evidence.
bigbluethruandthru - February 6, 2012
Top five in what sense? Defense? Give me his numbers against
the one really good defense they faced in the playoffs.
I’m pretty smart, and I know the definition of empirical.
Fernie67 - February 6, 2012
Oh, and since we're getting empirical, vs. the one truly strong
defense, he had an 82.3 rating, and the Giants won on two disastrous special teams plays by SF.
Fernie67 - February 6, 2012
Or here, let me make it even clearer for you. Do I think Dumb Face is a good
QB? Yup. Do I think he’s on a par with Brady or Brees or his brother. No. I’ll buy top six or seven, sure. It’s going to take more than one good season on his part to persuade me otherwise. Still illogical? Tough.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Oops. Forgot Rodgers.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
So by your standards
there are only four great QB’s in the league? And if you think this was his only great season, go back and look at 2008 and 2009. He carried the 2009 team as much as he did this year.
bigbluethruandthru - February 6, 2012
Fernie67 - February 6, 2012

Mikellie just completed a perfect 7-for-7 on KD’s playoff contest.
Before the division round began, he picked correctly all four division winners, the two conference championship winners, and the Giants to win the Super Bowl.
Congratulations, Mikellie, on a perfect 7-for-7. Well done, sir, and congratulations on your addition to KD’s 10-for-10 Hall of Fame (I know it’s only seven games, not ten, but this was harder.

this team has an uncanny ability
to turn it on very late. I don’t get it.
No other team in the nfl has done this. Wild card teams have made runs, but they haven’t vastly improved their play like the 2007 and 2011 Giants. Teams like the 2005 Steelers and 2011 Packers got hot early on in December, and were clearly major threats by the time the playoffs started. The 2006 Colts got Bob Sanders back and were instantly better in large part because of that, though I guess their play is similar to the 2011 Giants D.

foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Osi and Tuck played 5 games together, between week 8 and 12
they totalled 2.5 sack those 2 games, Tuck only had .5 sacks, both of them were not healthy for those game

BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
A great catch on the sidelines is luck?
Branta - February 5, 2012
that was the 2007 Giants
they actually got a little unlucky – two PIs that were definitely close, but on replay pretty clearly PI weren’t called. That balances out their luck with the fumbles somewhat.
This team killed the Falcons, played pretty darn well against the Packers, and played the Pats to a virtual draw, though I think they did get quite lucky against SF.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012

bigbluethruandthru - February 5, 2012
Well, let's hope it happens so I can see it for myself. :)
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
they're up there.
ScottB1985 - February 5, 2012
so is every other team in the FA era
The Steelers (twice), Pats, and Colts have all had a serious amount of luck leading up to their titles. Its what happens in an NFL where there are no dominant teams. Championships and playoff games are decided yearly nowadays in the last 2 minutes. The winner is almost always lucky.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
We can do this in 2012
Upgrade the O-line, churn the bad players off the defensive roster, and we’re set.
Cowboys were 1 missed field goal away from putting the Giants out of the playoffs.
We can be there next year if Jerry plays this off-season right.
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
This is true!
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
And if my aunt had a pair she'd be my uncle
kindablue - February 5, 2012
not with this D
they key to winning the superbowl has generally been great qb play and defense, with some variation in terms of what % role each played in the success. Imo, we only have one of the two.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
you could tell that every time either one of the qb’s had time the play was going to be successful. You have to get pressure on the QB.
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
not always
I thought the Pats had really good secondary play, they closed fast and hit wrs hard. Their pass rush wasn’t all that, but if Brady hits welker late in the game, we’re talking about the Pats holding the Giants to 15 points.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
i hope everyone in the cowboys roster sees how close they were of changing history.
next season needs to be motivation of what happened tonight. i believe in romo. lets get ready to take those champs out now.

ScottB1985 - February 5, 2012

Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
I F&^&* hate the giants...but give Eli his due....he was clutch when then needed him.
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
I just don't see it that way. His receivers were the MVPs. He was fine, but they
were stellar. It’s too bad they won’t get the recognition he will.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
the pass & catch to Manningham
both were beautiful. Same with many other throws.
The Pats secondary played very well today I thought. Eli had 3-5 passes there were through very tight holes, and a few more where he hit wrs at the only spot they could make the catch.
That wr core is elite though. They are really good. Nicks is a top tier #1 and I think at this point, Cowboys fans have to admit hes more consistently productive then anyone we have.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Eli has been great... So has Brady...
Eli’s TEAMS have beaten Brady’s TEAMS. Much like Bradshaw’s teams twice beat Staughbach’s teams… I ask you, was Bradshaw better than Staughbach? Or were maybe his teams better?
Now please stop turning Chess into checkers.

BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
Brady did not blow it, Welker dropped ball, if anything, IMO.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
that was an AWFUL pass
there is no way Welker should have to turn for the ball like that in midair.
Welker probably should’ve caught it, but thats really not a hard throw to make, and Brady made it 10 times more difficult then it had to be.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
You realize the safety would have picked it
Had Brady led Welker? That’s why Brady threw it to Welkers left shoulder. It was a very good throw and should have been caught. Welker had both hands on it
BrickTop - February 5, 2012 via mobile
If you can get your hands on it, you should catch it. Or at least, that's my
understanding of the conventional wisdom.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Exactly
Welker got both hands on it. If he makes that catch its a different outcome.
BrickTop - February 5, 2012 via mobile
Safety would have picked it??
The safety was still quite a few feet from Welker, who really didn’t go very far to the left to attempt to catch it, he essentially spun in the air. I’m not saying Brady should’ve lobbed it, but gunning that in so your wr doesn’t need to do a 360 in the air is a standard nfl throw.
Should Welker have caught it? yes, but that doesn’t mean golden boy Brady is without blame. He throws that in stride, there is a decent chance that is a td.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Brady put it in the hole.
But IDK if it would have been picked if more to lateral side of field.

sigh and now to hear about these damn Giants winning this game…….
Cowboy88 - February 5, 2012
Defensively, they will start out a higher level then we will next season...
They could get a lot of value picking at the end of the first round. They will probably looking for a LB, TE, or even OG… Watch them score with a late rounder… Their OL was supposed to be a weakness this season. They are one of the older groups, but they managed to do their jobs. If they manage to shore up that group, I don’t see us making much headway. As of now, they have the better coaching staff.
LDVFootball - February 5, 2012
so i hope rob ryan looks for the best cornerback we can get... draft or free agent.
go87 - February 5, 2012
that worked well for the Eagles
If you look at the Giants, it is DL that makes the DB looks good
a hay - February 5, 2012
I hope we are looking for OL, and defense (not named ware or lee)

If we had just beaten the Jets on opening day
Could it have been different?
Congrats to Eli and the Giants. Took advantage of every opportunity and made the plays when it mattered.
Go Cowboys
accidental innuendo - February 5, 2012
Congrats to the Giants
They deserve it – that team has been playing awesome football for the last 2 months. The only game they really needed some bounces was the 49ers game. I think 2007 was a fluke, but I will recognize this as a legit superbowl team. A great qb, very talented wrs, and a DL that when on its game (it really has been a rare occurance for them outside the superbowl runs) is tough to get by.
And I think every Cowboys fan out there knew what was going to happen when Brady missed his wr 30 yards downfield up 2 with a 3 minutes left. We’ve seen that story play out before. Sigh.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
KD...How about a nice post on the final results of your contest?
Mikellie - February 5, 2012
I emailed him my file.

Well, I'm sure that someone on that will have another gun shooting/club incident
It makes me feel a little better
saki - February 5, 2012
pass rush is key
NY has an awesome pass rush, that’s why they won the super bowl. Cowboys lack a rush. Without Ware we would just be pathetic. We need a good rusher to replace Spencer, move Rat to DE, and get a Calais Campbell type 5 tech.

Add in a monster NT =
SUPERBOWL
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
they also had much better secondary play down the stretch
they were good in this game too.
The Giants were straight up position by position a better defense over the last 6 weeks of their season than Dallas was in 2011. They also didn’t have anyone as bad on their D as Newman was on ours.
I agree though that even if we don’t necessarily have a position for him in 2012, stacking up on pass rushers and secondary talent like the Giants have can’t hurt.

starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 6, 2012
Playing Newman's advocate here,
but Hynoski ran over a DB or two in the Super Bowl, I noticed.
VoldeMart - February 5, 2012
and then so did 31 other coaches and GMs
You can’t perfectly every round. Jimmy Johnson had plenty of picks that didn’t pan out
ScottB1985 - February 5, 2012
Also
Hakeem Nicks at this point needs to be recognized as an elite #1. Hes got it all.
And that wr core – Nicks/Cruz/Manningham…this is two years in a row we’ve seen elite wr cores help their teams to championships, and with so-so line play, although the Giants line really stepped it up outside the SF game.
Manningham made some incredibly clutch catches down the stretch.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Isn't he a free agent?
Manningham?
LDVFootball - February 5, 2012
If healthy, Austin, Bryant, and Robinson are just as good.
And we have a better QB. Just need to draft OL and we’ll be on our way!
Mikellie - February 5, 2012
Their OL isn't that much better than ours
I think similar to Romo with our line or Brady, Eli moves in the pocket flawlessly and makes that line look a lot better than it is.
I think we could upgrade one position and see similar performance to the Giants’ performance in the playoffs.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Nicks or DeCastro.
Mikellie - February 5, 2012
or both
Although I’d rather have Chris Myers at $4 million a year than Nicks at $9 million a year.
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
No, their line is much better than ours
we have PFF’s 2nd worst starting center in the NFL, old man Kosier, and ??? on any given sunday at left guard.
How can you tell me that’s anywhere near sufficient?
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
hmmm
http://footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol
Giants were 28th in run blocking, 6th in pass protection. Their adjusted sack rate was only 1% different from ours, which is pretty insignificant.
That Giants line was nothing special.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Down the stretch, they were much better. According to Sturm, Dumb Face
was sacked 8 times in December to Romo’s 19. You’re trying to tell me that Dumb Face moves in the pocket so much better than Romo that the differential has nothing to do with the O lines?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
no
but I am saying that over the course of the SEASON, the protection wasn’t vastly different.
And no, I’m not saying the different between those sack numbers is all Eli moving in the pocket.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Were they perfect? no
but lets not forget the perfect protection once Romo came back into the 49ers game that allowed us to retake the lead.
Romo would’ve been in a far worse position with broken ribs behind the Giants line during the season.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
I'm not saying we're great
and again, I’m agreeing that we played like crap in december.
Once again, the Giants did not offer their qb that type of protection during any 4 game stretch of the regular season
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
We don't have a pass rush near as good as the Giants.
There was some serious d being played tonite.
Dallas would have lost by 20 tonite to either team.

LiveNDieBlue - February 5, 2012
+1
Mikellie - February 5, 2012
+1--I got shouted down by a few "true" fans for my NFC East loyalty early on.
As soon as the Cowboys were out of it, I sucked it up and began cheering for the team that beat them. (Strange? Hey, Jason Witten did the same thing, apparently: http://www.sportsfanlive.com/web/article?action=viewArticle&articleId=11828946&team=nfl-dallas_cowboys&tid=msp) That’s because I’m not just a Cowboys fan. I’m a football fan.
Yeah, it sucks that the Giants beat us, but they beat everyone else when it mattered, too. And we played them well in at least one of our games. And they’re picking last in the Draft.
VoldeMart - February 5, 2012
In fairness, Witten (and Ware) probably weren't "cheering" for the Giants right away,
if at all. But they picked them to win the Super Bowl. Some people here would consider that an act of perfidy.
VoldeMart - February 5, 2012
You want a medal? The Pats beat us, too. So? I'm a Cowboys fan before all else,
and I don’t feel any obligation to “suck it up” and root for an arch-rival.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
So don't root. Wallow, if you like.
VoldeMart - February 5, 2012
Why explain yourself
to people who don’t care what you think and won’t be swayed by your opinion? You’re not a True Fan and anything you write to explain yourself is merely an excuse that falls short.
Joey2zs - February 5, 2012
Because I have too much time on my hands? :)
VoldeMart - February 5, 2012
BTW, let me repeat, I do NOT think you are less of a fan for rooting
for the Giants. I may not get it, but I wouldn’t make that judgement. I’m also not less of a fan for not rooting for the NFC East outside of the Cowboys.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Seriously?
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
Awesome. Martyr?
No. That would be the guy who wallows in the fact that his team didn’t make the playoffs, then picks a fight with someone who just moves on. Which, by the way, I’m doing with this conversation and you in general. See ya.
VoldeMart - February 6, 2012

But whoever wins emerges strong.
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
Except for the Eagles.
Kevin L - February 5, 2012
actually
in the last 15 years the only team to “emerge strong” has been the GIants.
The Eagles were a powerhouse in the early 2000s that somehow always came up short. They were probably a few plays (the carolina lineman falling on McNabb and breaking his ribs, the Jurevicious long td early in the Bucs game, any number of plays in the Cardinals game) from being a dynasty.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
Great memory.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 5, 2012
I wrote that about Philly
entirely to make me feel better about watching Eli Manning get handed the superbowl trophy for the second time in his career.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
25% of all Superbowls have been won by the NFC East
Blue Eyed Devil - February 5, 2012
and the Packers and Bears
are the two most dominant teams in the sport.
I can play that game too.

A team full of players, we either lost to FA, didn’t draft, or just completely didn’t know was on the radar. I give respect to the Giants and all, but when can we emerge from the NFC to claim our respect?

Wouldn’t cost a boatload, think its realistic?
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
the good news...
Joey2zs - February 5, 2012
Romo has won NOTHING.
Eli owns 2 SUPERBOWL rings. Romo is not in Eli’s league…YET.
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
Eli won nothing until he did
I don’t know that we’re disagreeing, or… really I don’t know what your point is. Is it your point that because Romo never has won anything he never will? Because that’s absurd.
Joey2zs - February 5, 2012
my point is how can u justify this:
The proof is in the pudding. Eli’s got skins as in multiple.
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
Because Romo has HOF numbers
in terms of yards, completion %, TDs, etc… far above Eli.
Joey2zs - February 5, 2012
i think you mean Romo peak ranking cannot be as high as Eli right now but they are in the same class
i hate to do this but on a scaled down perspective
Eli- Elway Romo – Marino
both will get their props but Elway will always be considered better because he broke through in the same time period and got to the top even though Marino may be one of the best ever at his craft and has the numbers to back it up
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 5, 2012
thats a good analogy.
U guys aren’t giving ‘Dumbface’ enough credit. Without him, they don’t win the SB. Care to debate that?
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
I'm not trying to
objectively determine who is better than whom.
Joey2zs - February 5, 2012
point taken.
We CAN win a SB with Romo.
He needs some more help though.
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
yes my argument is always
put romo on your team and let your QB scramble for his life behind Dallas’ atrocious o-line
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 5, 2012
Eli probably wouldn't have taken this Cowboy team to the SB.
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
I'll repeat what someone else said earlier but Eli's TEAMS
won those rings. Eli wasn’t on the d-line, which played a big role in those wins. Going by your logic, Dilfer and Brad Johnson were better QBs than Dan Marino.
ScottB1985 - February 5, 2012
Your right. Eli didn’t get them those rings. He just managed the team a la Dilfer and Johnson.
Is that what you believe?
Imo there wasn’t a better QB in the Playoffs than Eli this year. He was THAT good. Hey I hate the guy too but he willed that team to the SB this year.
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
unless he played on the d-line, he was on thte team that won it
He was a good QB, but not HOF great. The point was that SB rings aren’t a good barometer of how good the QB is but how good the team is that he’s apart of.
ScottB1985 - February 6, 2012
I agree that Romo is more talented.
But I have never seen him as consistently clutch as Eli. I gained a lot of respect for both of them this season, actually. If Romo can get an O-line, one more solid DB, and a pass rush threat opposite DWare, we could go deep in the playoffs next year.
VoldeMart - February 5, 2012
Eli good but not great
He can count on his receivers being where they are supposed to be , and catching the ball
On the NFL network post game only M Irvin was talking about his 3 receivers, and how the Pats receivers dropped passes negating the Pats chances.
It wasn’t only Welker. Branch on 2 occasions, and Hernandez on another all in the final minutes.
That and the Welker ( Miles Austin version 2 ) are what helped the Giants win.
oldtimer - February 6, 2012
I agree
He carried the team on his back the first 3 months, and when the team played up to his level (something Romo’s rarely experienced), they looked like a superbowl caliber team.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
well now the Eli is HOF i can only look forward to the Romo bashing next year
cant take this aside from 2007 the last time i the Cowboys were legit contenders I was 6 years old.
One year I want public perception of Dallas to not be overrated chokers
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 5, 2012
You aint the only one.
chromecowboy - February 5, 2012
its so rough, aside from 07 since the 03 season i cant even purely root for them
I’ve perfected straight face lying when I brag about Dallas breaking through only to watch them fail another season in a new tale of heart-breaking fashion
the Campo days were fun because there were no expectations, no maximized levels of embarrassment, just play ball and hope to get better, not get scrutinized all season only to succumb to the critics predictions
I just want to be “convinced” that they are for real at some point when their backs are against the wall, not lose 4/5 after winning 5 in a row and blow a 12 point lead in 3 minutes that would have clinched the division against the eventual super bowl champs
Dallas just sparked the Giants title run for the second time this decade
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 5, 2012
Yup.
It’s galling.
Fernie67 - February 5, 2012
it makes me so mad i'd rather
whack off using really gritty sandpaper
centralkscowboysfan - February 5, 2012
After this,
I’m worried about how Jerry is gonna think about this…His squad had the Giants dead to rights, but fell apart.
With Dallas’ defense as it stands right now, the Cowboys wont sniff the Super Bowl until it is fixed, no matter how well Romo plays.
chromecowboy - February 5, 2012
the front 4 of the Giants is what propelled that Team. We got Rat and Ware. If we switched to a 4-3, to be equal to the Giants…
Logic would dictate all we’d need is 1 more great player on that front 4 to be contenders?
True or False?
Osi + Tuck + Paul + Canty = Ware + Ratliff + Soliai + Hatcher
StarloverinWNC - February 5, 2012
If the Cowboys hope to match the Giants they either need Mario Williams or Quinton Coples
Jonathan Stern - February 6, 2012
lol
CaliFanInTx - February 6, 2012
why not?
Jonathan Stern - February 7, 2012
I'm not worried
The Giants have had two successful playoff runs on the back of their D in large part.
The Giants draft secondary and pass rush talent heavily in the early rounds.
If Jerry does that, I would not complain.
Heck, this may even be a good thing – I was worried for a while there that we’d see an all offense, Pats-Packers SB where the defenses were atrocious, which could convince Jerry all we need is the next elite TE or WR.
foyesboys - February 5, 2012
I wish I was as young as you.
I’m only 46 and Jerry is 20 years older than me, but I am starting to fear that I may never see another Cowboys super bowl victory before I die.
fs65 - February 6, 2012
yeah at this rate i may be lucky by the time i'm 50 to see Dallas make a conference championship game
then when i’m 70 see them make the super bowl
if i’m still alive at 90 they might win it then i will pop a jug of viagra hit the Brazilian beaches and be on my merry way to the pearly gates
starbury_to_s-jaxci2000 - February 6, 2012
boo! the meteor never made it.
DCB* - February 5, 2012 via mobile
One of the most UNDERWHELMING
Super Bowls I’ve seen in a while. I think we’ve been spoiled with the last 4-5 SBs, were all so epic. Not until the very last minute or so did things even really get interesting. It was also a really quick SB.
I feel like any one of 5 teams could have or should have been in this SB: New England, Giants, Baltimore, Green Bay, 49ers. I don’t think the Pats or Giant were really better than any of the other teams, and if they play their games over 10 out 10 times, don’t think the outcome would be the same.
Oh well, even the sun shines on a dog’s ass some days.
Cowboys Dominance - February 6, 2012
agreed...NY is good , but also VERY lucky, 3 fumbles...they recover 2 and get the other
turned over because of a penalty. Shame of the NFL for having a team with SEVEN loses be the “champion”
fiverings37 - February 6, 2012
And being outscored in the regular season
Only team in history to win a SB after having more points scored against them than they scored in the regular season.
oldtimer - February 6, 2012
Yeah,
and that doesn’t even take into account all the luck and fumble recoveries they had leading up to and including the playoffs. Here’s a link to an interesting article about it (warning: they guy is an Eagles fan): http://bloggingthebeast.com/2012/02/01/why-the-giants-are-in-the-super-bowl-their-opponents-are-losing-fumbles-and-the-giants-arent/
Cowboys Dominance - February 7, 2012
Heads up football. Play through the whistle. When you see that many fortuitous bounces, they are no longer fortuitous.
BlueNSilverBlood - February 7, 2012
lolwut?
Only bitter a Cowboys fan could call that game underwhelming. The rest of the world is calling it one of the best ever, including Gil Brandt, FFS.
FreedomRide - February 6, 2012
Ooooooohhhh
Well, if Gil Brandt said that, then it must be true! People always think the Super Bowl is the most exciting right after it happened. Just wait and see how people judge this one in a few years time (it doesn’t even compare to the 07 season/08 SB). Most everybody I have been talking to—fans of all different types of teams—share the sentiment.
Cowboys Dominance - February 7, 2012
HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!!
Can’t wait till you boys come up to visit the lombardi trophy next year and go home empty handed with another loss in hand, again!
We’ll all be thinking about you ’boys fans tomorrow during the parade down the canyon of heroes! eat it up!
HOW ’BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!
yankfansoxhater - February 6, 2012
Classy.
CaliFanInTx - February 6, 2012
Wow, class-less
All you have to do is look above to see MANY Cowboy fans giving your team respect and props, despite the fact that your QB is inferior to ours, your WR core is inferior to ours, your RB core… well you get the point. Your D-line won the Superbowl for you, be happy, savor it and please prepare for some intense divisional games next year. Don’t be a crappy winner.
405dallasfan - February 6, 2012
