Blogging The Boys

Stop Lurking And Join The Fun On BTB Today

There is no Dallas Cowboys News today. And it'll probably be a while before anything of note happens. Today is all about our hated division rival, the Giants, and another team from the Northeast that are playing some kind of game, in Indianapolis of all places.

Yet here you are. On a Cowboys site, trying to read up on the Cowboys on a day where absolutely nothing newsworthy is going to emerge about the Cowboys. That probably makes you a pretty die-hard Cowboys fan. And the chances are good that you have not yet joined our fine community at Blogging The Boys, much less posted a comment.

Over the last seven months, we've averaged about 600,000 visitors and 1,300,000 page views each month, yet we only have about 11,000 members signed up for BTB. So today, we're asking you to stop lurking and join us on BTB. Here are some of the main reasons why you should join today:

Star-divide

  • It will make visiting BTB much more fun. Instead of just reading and thinking things over by yourself, you'll be articulating your own opinion and debating it with others in the comments section or in the FanPosts.
  • It will make you a better fan. As regular readers stick around to comment, the community grows, and the discussion flourishes. Before you know it, you'll turn into an expert on the team, even if that's not what you were aiming for.
  • It's not going to cost you a single cent. You'll have more fun, you'll become much more knowledgeable and it's 100% free. How can you not sign up for that?
  • Today only - get immediate access. Usually, there's a 24-hour waiting period to start commenting on BTB after you sign up, it helps to keep the trolls away. But for today only, we are waiving that so you can comment immediately.

I trust that once you join, you'll find that BTB is not dominated by hyperventilanting ranters and blind homers. Instead, I hope you'll find people who analyze, think about, and discuss things without getting too abusive of one another, and who are frequently just hilarious.

Best of all though, once you sign up (follow this link to sign up for an account on BTB), introduce yourself in the comments below, and the BTB welcoming committee will turn out in full force to welcome you. You'll find that a part of that 'welcome' includes turning your initial comment green ...

For our existing members, I'd ask to you welcome our newbies, and to answer the following question in the comments below:

What made you join Blogging The Boys?

Am I the first? What an honor!

I joined BTB because I had been wondering in the net looking for a place to talk about the cowboys. Mothership was so bad I didn’t want to even try that and cowboys nation seemed like a too much of a one man show (nothing against raf). This place was so intelligent and people really talked about things in a “professional” way. I kinda stalked here for a year and then had the courage to sign in and start commenting on stuff.

Welcome to all the newbies (I joined the threads this season)!

We look forward to your insight and love for our Cowboys. Now head over to the punch bowl and get some Kool-Aid; it’s blue of course!

Came here over from Rafael's site when he came here. Stayed ever since.

Best place to share thoughts and get insight on the Dallas Cowboys. Thanks to all the writers and fans for a good, informative time!

Me too!

I wasn’t happy when it first happened but this site is the best.

Being a Cowboy fan in Washington DC

Started as a Cowboy’s fan in the midwest and then the family moved to DC in the 70’s. I couldnt drink the kool-aide and root for George Allen and the DeadSkins. Joined BTB to get my Cowboy’s fix.

Welcome to the newest members!

THIS PLACE IS THE BEST ONLINE COWBOYS FAN EXPERIENCE!

I joined because they always ask a question at the end of their articles here

Makes me feel like someone’s talking to me.

But seriously, folks. The reason to visit BTB is that it has the best in-depth, Cowboys focused analysis on the web. It’s not your usual talk-radio bluster. Sure, there’s some kool-aid drinking, but at the end of the day you get a researched, no punches pulled look at your favorite team.

The reason to join goes part and parcel with that. The folks who patronize the site are the type of folks who appreciate that sort of thing and who go into debates and discussions with the same attitude. All fans who educate themselves about the team and the game and and make interesting, well-reasoned, and occasionally even funny points about the Cowboys.

In closing, please enjoy this picture of a blind homer: http://deadhomersociety.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/blind.png

with the exception of the night right after a tough loss

there is good spirited debate with a good balance pessimists and optimists, and because most people here follow the Cowboys with an intense passion, there is a more informed opinon here than in most of the media.

2 easy

I joined for several reasons….
#1: because there is new relevant news on the Cowboys every day
#2: articles have insight, not paid for cause they have to write articles
#3: fans here don’t bitch about everything, they actually like & support this team
#4: you don’t have to sign in to read an article, I only do when I want to reply (sorry)!
#5: geez im done, gimme a break, its Sunday :)

to be honest ,

it’s a bit intimidating when you first post, but the guy’s here are very welcoming and it is great to chat to fellow fans.
we love the same team, so get posting .

unless you post a fanshot in the fanpost area lol
Yeah, no one wants to get "B-Hammed"...
Whatever, Haggis Breath....
haha . cheers Burger Breath...
A friend recommended this site, and I've never looked back. It's one of the few places

on the internet where I can have a rational conversation about the Cowboys. The writers here constantly look beyond what passes for conventional wisdom and provide fresh points of view.

I think KD says it best,

This is the best collection of cowboys writers never to have access to a locker room. I recommend anyone thing about joining to dive right in and join this community, as it truly is the best of the best on here. Largely responsible for the breath of knowledge and diverse views and opinions on this board. So please help us keep that momentum going, and those idea’s flowing

Well they could get press passes now.. JimmyK did.
I joined because I got a new car....

and a check for $75,000. Apparently the bonuses have been cut due to the economy.

I did have to wait the 24 hours though, so any new people seem to make out on the deal.

Yeah, 24 wait kept me from commenting on our Vikings PO loss, I really felt like jumping in.
I joined for 2 reasons

1) This community doesn’t put up with personal attacks and other gutter-trash behavior you find other places online
2) The level is discourse about football is the highest I’ve found. I’ve learned and grown in my thinking of the sport and what makes a successful franchise so much since joining. With this much assembled knowledge it makes for fascinating conversations that go way past the simplistic platitudes you find elsewhere.

What makes BTB great is you have a bunch of very smart passionate fans in a community where everyone respects each other.

I do like that the language is generally clean

swearing only makes yourself look dumb and overly emotional. I’ve only sworn once or twice (after a loss of course), and I believe it got deleted, as it should have.

Same here.

The fact that an online community can discuss anything without degenerating into insults is impressive. Add in that we are dicussing the Cowboys, which all of us feel quite strongly about, and it is amazing.

Agree

The internet’s anonymity seems to breed bad behavior, so I appreciate an adult approach to blogging. I also like the fact that while I get a chance to learn from some very bright posters, if you bring weak stuff someone will call you out. Keeps you on top of your game.

I think a lot of regulars, new and old, can relate to that, as we all know where strong opinions based on no evidence will get you.

Haha.

Yeah, I think most of the time the less evidence they have the greater their attachment to the their point. It also reminds me that not everyone is rational.

Pandering cheapens BtB
Various definitions of "pander":
: to act as a pander; especially : to provide gratification for others’ desires
pander to someone/something to do or say what someone wants in order to please them, even though you know it is not right

Per my very own Funk and Wagnall:

1. A go-between in sexual intrigues; a procurerer; pimp.
2. One who ministers to the passions or base desire of others.

In what sense does inviting more people to join and participate meet these definitions?

Pimp???... BtB???

I am always the last to know.

Well, it does put a new spin on all those cheerleader pictures. :P
I don't know Fernie, this one might just fit.
2. One who ministers to the passions or base desire of others
LOL.
Yes, well said.

Said the man who loved our cheerleaders as an infant.

Meets the first 2 you provide...

… and #2 in your very own Funk and Wagnall’s.

Plus, “to cater, esp basely, to the tastes and desires of others or exploit their weaknesses” including “function as a procurer”, on top of which “esp in order to make money” applies.

Thinking each reader hasn’t a weakness for the Cowboys, info on same and that Vox Media doesn’t derive revenue from BtB and other SB nation sites would be naive, at best. That the FP writers may not be emplotyees and personally derive financial renumeration is irrelevant. It’s the very basis of the financial aspects of much of the modern social media (and more) business model.

I don't have any problem with a little

pandering or self-recognition. I’ve been around the web enough to know that this place is pretty special – more a community than a collection of strangers (although some are stranger than others). I mean think about the out-pouring of support when DalaiLuke was incarcerated for opium or philandering or something. It was a poignant BTB moment…

Self-recognition, sure. Inviting people to join and removing impediments in order

to broaden the discussion and membership and make welcome people who might feel reticent jumping about into the fray, awesome. Pandering? Naw.

Hmmm...

Inviting people to join and removing impediments in order to…”

pro·cure (pr-kyr, pr-) v.
1. To bring about; effect

Seems we ain’t so far apart.

No, we're pretty far apart.
You're right. I recognize pandering when I see it.
Special, agreed. Community, agreed. Stranger, agreed.
This is why......

I am hestitant to post. I work for an ahole that looks down at everyone because he thinks he is so much smarter than everyone else. There are several posters, tans and ham, that act like they and so much better and more intelligent than everyone else on this site.

I never act like I am smarter or better

Its just not that hard to follow the guidelines of fanpost fanshot that is all. I would love to see any comments outside of that, where you think I do that, because I don’t.

I used to read McCovey Chronicles

Then I got this genius idea to look up the Dallas Cowboys sb nation site. So I read for about a month and finally joined. Its nice to have intelligent conversations about the Cowboys.

Dave I have a lot of fun on this site.

I am always amazed at the difference of opinions on this site. We all want the end result to be the same but how we get there differs greatly.

I think more objective writing from the headline guys are in order. Rabble and KD seem to be the most objective and willing to call a spade a spade.

The fanpost articles are what makes this site so good. They easily define how deep some understand the game.

Kudo’s to you Dave for having such a great place to visit.

Why did I join BTB?

One name really: Rafael Vela. His articles and information on all things Cowboys were awesome. And most importantly, FREE!

Here, Here!

;)
Gotta give Raf props.

Best site around

I am another Cowboys fan living in the Washington DC area. Born here, but I was born with stars in my eyes. Love this site. This site, and Velas site are the only ones I go to anymore. Proud to be a member, proud to be a fan. Keep up the great work fellas.

I remember my 24 hour waiting period to post...

And I am not embarrassed to say that it was highly frustrating. I don’t even remember what I wanted to argue about, just that I wanted to say it, right at that minute.

KD like you I was bummed about waiting.

I wonder if Dave ever regrets not extending the 24 hr rule for Football Mensa ? LOL

Conversation Starter

Cowboys will go 19-0 next year……..and GO!

I don't buy it.

You didn’t even support it with Romo’s short-shuttle time! :)

Has BTB

Ever had a meetup at Cowboys Stadium for a game?

Brick it would be fun to do a tailgate.
Yup

That would be pretty cool.

We really should look into doing something like that.

I bet we could even get some kind of discounted rate for doing the whole group thing.

I wonder if KD could do a fan guest pod cast during the game?
Please let me know if you guys decide to so. You guys keep me from going to sleep at work and I'd love to meet the guys behind the snarky comments . :)
How YOU doin'?
A handful met at the Arizona game last year

but I don’t know of a home meet up happening yet

i know on the White Sox blog they meet up frequently before games

some even take road trips to opposing stadiums as mini-documentaries and give us a tour through their eyes.

on the Nets blog they were able to get a NetsDaily section created for them because of how poor attendance is at Nets games and they got group discounts and such and even offered special season ticket packages

yeah its a great idea to help break the 4th wall if everyone met up to tailgate and tried to purchase tickets in the same general area and cheered their heads off

I've ben talking about organizing one of these

Might be pricey unless its for pre-season…

I was in Japan last offseason, and searching for an online replacement

For the little coverage I’d have had on television. Signed up for the mothership, and while searching for more info, found BTB. Instantly replaced the mothership.
And then I started writing fanposts… Hopefully I can do that again this summer.

looking forward to them Coty

you’re one of my fave Fan Posters- great stuff

Thanks, KD.

Got a couple unfinished. Most recently comparing Romo’s bad game stats to average quarterback play. Need some more substance, though.

Write right

Or they’ll tell ya where you’re wrong.

I joined because

The articles here are the most researched, well written, and interesting ones I found when looking at all Cowboys’ sites. Plus, everyone’s opinion is welcome, even those who are not Cowboys fans.

Welcome new guys

Best site Cowboys site hands down. I check this site as much as a college student checks their facebook.

me too

its actually my home page. pretty sad huh?

Oh, good idea Paul, I hadn't thought of that one.
I would make it mine

but my Wife would hide the computer from me if I did

Joined the blog in december

joined a few months ago, after reading the blog for a couple of years. OCC already welcomed me in my native language, Swiss-German.

Living in Switzerland, the internet is basically my only option to read about the Cowboys and I’m glad I found this blog. Besides all the news that I enjoy reading, I think I have learned a lot about football in general in all the great posts. Also, the draft preview posts by the front page writers and ChiaCrack, to name one of the fanposters, are very interesting to me as the draft is one of my favorite events of the NFL year.

Now I’m getting ready to go and watch the Superbowl with some friends. Let’s hope this time next year I’m getting ready to watch a Cowboys game!

Schweizer Deutsch ist schwer zu verstehen. Etwas anders als hochdeutsch lol

Ich muss dieses Jahr nach Österreich gehen und hab Angst, daß ich Cowboysspiele nicht ansehen können werde.

Willkommen und Go Cowboys!

The difference in language isn't an issue for OCC though

It’s all ones and zeros to him….

Gamepass is your friend

This is going to have to stop

all these non-native English speakers speaking English better than we do…. so sad….

It's all about the Cowboys and only about the Cowboys.

All the other teams mean nada. The Boys are more important than even the SB.

welcome every1 new

Hope u enjoy ur stay here at btb its a real good site that always keeps us cowboys fans up 2 date with cowboys news. Good staff and good people that post here. Every1 have fun and go cowboys!

It has been almost 3yrs since I joined.

The talk at the mothership was usually nonsense and abusive at that. Went looking for a new site. The articles by Dave and Raf were excellent and the discussion was quite civil. Most here love the Cowboys and though we may disagreee how to get back to the big game we all want to get there. The writers and posters here are great. Thanks BTB

Welcome aboard Feli !

To tell you the truth, I just saw The Star and figured “Why Not?”

Welcome Newbies!!! Rec for all of you!

Why I joined the BTB? Hmmm… being a life-time fan I had read an article one day from yahoo that had a link to the BTB. That was back in July.. of 2010. I lurked in and out for maybe a year and then made a comment on one of the fan post by Tom Ryle (and I’m really glad you became a front page writer Tom) He really got me to hang around and become a part of the community. Thank you BTB!

Welcome everybody!

I joined BtB because I enjoyed the community and really wanted to be a part of it. Even though I live in the DFW are, I don’t have any friends that are Cowboys fans. It’s great to be able to talk things over with fellow fans that are just as crazy as you are. My life has been crazy lately, so I haven’t had much time for commenting, but I make it a point to come here every day and at least read the front page articles because the football knowledge here is second to none.

always been wondering but....

Who created BTB?

the man who penned this here article
know how you feel

I’m in South Texas and I had a rude comment yesterday for wearing my Cowboy shirt.

When I grew up!

The Cowboys were everything in Texas… I lived in Arlington initially.. then moved to Texarkana in 1972… there wasn’t a Texan alive that wasn’t a Cowboys fan. Now the social media outlets, ESPN, and a hundred of other avenues broadcast lies, trash, and crap for everyone to accept as fact. You want the real news about the Cowboys… just come to the BTB!

I agree

I’m a native Texan, and you are right about how the fans here used to be. Funny thing is that I think I know more Cowboy fans in South Carolina now than here in my own home town. If you want the truth read the BTB articles and forget ESPN.

All my friends here are either patriots fans, giants fans, or philly fans.

It’s disgusting.

Take Heart

Cowboys will be back!

Love this post! Welcome to BTB ya noobs! :)

seriously though, I love this site and hope all you newcomers do too. The mothership is way too populated with morons spouting nonsense and flaming eachother. This site is the only real exchange of true Cowboys fandom. Seriously, BTB is my homepage and I’ve got a huge Cowboys star on my calf- some would call that a problem, I say there’s 16 days a year that are devoted to the greatest franchise in any professional sport :) well, that, and a glass of scotch

This is one of the few places I really trust on Cowboys news

not only on the front page but also in the comments section. The national media doesn’t follow them like we do. You rarely see senseless swearing or name calling, and the debate is civilized. There is also a good balance of optimists and pessimists, but everyone wants the same thing!

Welcome new guys! Join in the amazing fun.

I was actually reading Hogs Haven back in the day, when they had quality writers! (My buddy, was one of them) Then he’s like you know they have sites like this for all the football teams. I lurked a while and just had to join in on a deke and terry conversation I think one day. Dave’s articles were great. And then SBNation made a great new change and as always remember

FANPOST

FanPosts are generally for anybody to write up a post about the Cowboys or something Cowboys-related. ….. And please, resist the temptation to just put anything up there, please think it out for a little while because when you add a FanPost, someone else’s gets knocked off the list.

Deke and Terry

Those were classic dialogs.

He hasn't logged in since 2010 did he quit haha?

They were classic

He made a brief return in 2010 and then

my theory is that Terry and Deke’s kids got married and they buried the hatchet…

well being a cowboys fan you dont need a community like this to find fans, just walk into a local sports bar(lol)

for me it was trying to find New Jersey Nets after I left New Jersey. I had no clue what SBNation was even though I frequented yahoo sports since 2006. It wasnt until I noticed my friend on the Flyers blog that my interest became enticed.

so during a game recap on yahoo sports i strolled to the right side of the page and clicked one of those SBnation links. Found the nets blog and put me in a tranquil yet elated state of being. Then after 2-3 weeks i was like “Hey there are other sports blogs i can join” and I quickly hopped on BTB.

For me, its being able to share inside jokes like having 14-13 flashbacks during the final minutes of the first NYG/Dallas game. Or being able to vent when you cant get out the house to chat up with your buddies at the bar or pool hall. I mainly enjoy the extended and extensive news coverage. I have never read so much in my life aside for burying my face in my Diff EQ and Thermo textbooks and notes. I enjoy just reading and reading the news and not necessarily commenting.

It was easy for me with football and basketball because i understand most advanced stats. But baseball and hockey I’m still working on understanding advanced stats that go beyond fantasy sports so i’m not making arguments and claims off of pure raw stats

Not where I live
well being a cowboys fan you dont need a community like this to find fans, just walk into a local sports bar(lol)

Even if I run into a Cowboy fan they are ESPN “romo sucks” morons.

But I do live in the epicenter of football teams – Was, Balt, Pitt, Philly, NYG/J all within 3hours.

they arent fans then, they just look at highlights as their only basis of judgment

Romo for his shortcomings early in the season was far from the problem of the cowboys undoing this year

but being in Jersey growing up was rough, Giants, Skins, and Eagles all right there. Even when I lived in Baltimore there were Dallas fans abound.

I just find it hilarious but am still proud of them because these are the people that fuel Jerry’s ambition to think what he has done the last 17 years has been right

I am in Gettysburg area and yeah no Cowboy fans ever at sports bars.
Hear that in Texas too

Many of my “ex” friends are romo-haters. No longer allowed in my house.

Anybody watching the pre-pre-game show?

Get a look at Jessica Simpson? I know she’s preggo but I bet Romo is thanking his lucky stars.

Welcome newbie/lurkers.

Haven't even turned it on

Didn’t want to see more glorious “Eli” coverage.

I begin watching when they take the field to kick off.
I've turned off all sports coverage for the past two weeks

If I have to hear ELIte talk one more time, I’m gonna scream. I’ll be cheering for the meteor.

Meteor!

I said that to a Patriots fan just yesterday. Didn’t go over well, you know the Tom Brady love and all.

Lol

Oh, I know it. Even after his two (almost three if it hadn’t been for a penalty across the field) interceptions in the AFC championship game he can do no wrong in their eyes.

Right

And to think I used to like him? Really wanted him to win that SB against the Panthers! Live and learn huh?

It's understandable at the beginning of his career

With the whole late draft pick underdog thing. But after four super bowl appearances, endless “brady is the best ever” talk, and the obvious don’t-touch-brady favoritism I have grown to really really dislike him.

lol

My thoughts exactly. And from one recent Newb to the others Welcome to y’all

Love this site

For the first time ever, I seriously know where we stand and what the draft choices need to be for. I was one of the “kool-aid” drinkers. Thanks for the insight everybody. No one I know personally ever talks about things like that.

kool-aid

I hate to admit that I don’t really understand what is meant by “drinking the kool-aid” could someone explain it to me?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_the_Kool-Aid

thank you

I didn’t know it was a universally known metaphor or I would have consulted Google, I thought it was a creation of Blogging the Boys, oops.

Funny

I thought Parcels made it up

Stan in a nutshell it means that no matter what, Dallas is great and will win every game.

And since they aren’t playing today they are only a few lucky breaks and a player away from being there.

Just ask the kool aid drinkers.

oh my God

I have been a kool-aid drinker and never knew it. I only watch and follow the Cowboys, no other sport and no other NFL team, and I am the self proclaimed “eternal optimist” so…cheers….“clink”

Cheers to you!

Just drink the blue kool-aid. That’s the safe, unaddicting kind.

blue?

you mean they make it a color other than blue? not at my house.

oops again

I didn’t know it was a universally known metaphor or I would have consulted Google, I thought it was a creation of Blogging the Boys, oops.

Wanted to say hello and welcome to all of the new memebers
Hey Birddog

You gonna be at the game today?

No, I normaly do not go to the ProBowl Or Superbowl

That is when we start training draft prospects.

You see where Goodell said today that they might do away with the ProBowl?

Due to the joke the players made of the game last week.

Really?

He should bring back the competitions !

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-goodell-probowl

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says he is disappointed in the quality of last week’s Pro Bowl and changes must be considered, perhaps even dropping the game altogether.

Speaking on ESPN Radio, Goodell says this year’s Pro Bowl wasn’t "the kind of football we want to be demonstrating to our fans, and you heard it from the fans, the fans were actively booing in the stands."

Glad to hear it

Not a huge fan anyway, but that was a mockery of professional football. UN-watchable.

Really, you want someone to blow a knee out over $25,000?

It got better as it progressed. Jeez, man it is a resort atmosphere, have some fun.

Kansas City Cowboys Fan

I became a fan of the ’Boys in the early 70s when I lived in Hillsboro, TX.

Joined BtB because I’m lazy. I come here and just about everything that’s out on the Cowboys is listed here. The only other consistent meaningful content on the web not here is Rafael’s new blog.

Just out of curiosity, any other BtBers in the KC area?

Welcome to BTB new posters!

Wow, saying that makes me feel like I am an ole veteran at this bloggin stuff. I too lurked for quite awhile before making my first post. The thing I noticed right off was how intelligent the staff and regulars were. I’m thinking, geez these guys really know their stuff and truly have a love for the team. The comraderie is evident and not just a place to vent or try to take frustrations out on each other. Trolls are identified and tactfully handled but its still a home for the casual fan that just wants to be one of the guys. The staff are very in tune with whats being said here and come up with stories that keep the flow going. I’m hooked now and am definately thankful to be a part. Thanks guys! and go Boys!

Hmmm, why did I join BTB?

I live in maybe one of the loneliest places for a Cowboy’s fan, Wisconsin. 20 minutes south of Green Bay to be exact. I grew up here in the 90’s haydays and revelled in the glory of winning 3 superbowls and rubbing it in my friend’s stupid faces. Now lately, it seems I’ve been returned the favor for about 15 years or so. Last year I stumbled upon this community and fell in love because its full of real discussions and fans that are about the only team that truly matters to me. I’m not a big contributor, but I am on almost everyday to read honest news, opinions, and insight about America’s team. And by the way, I have found that there are truly more Cowboy fans around this country than anyone else. Just go to a Packer game vs the boys and see for yourself.

PS, if any of you guys are up here or plan on coming up for a Packer v Boys game let me know and we’ll get a sweet pregame bash set up and represent Dallas in the parking lot of the Green Bay Curling Club.

Newbie recs and welcomes to all!
Hey guys, which one do you think represents eli to most?

OMG!!!!!!! he is Milhouse!
This one is pretty good too.

Ahahahaha
Eli "dumb faced" Gump

Hilarious. Almost as hilarious as watching him get sacked.
+100

LOL

NFL’s “Most Photogenic”. Those are hilarious!

Been laughing too hard

Couldn’t think of any intelligent thought for a few minutes. Do all NFL quarterbacks have stupid photos available, or is this just an Eli thing?

The are a few more of rex grossman and kyle orton and some others at drunkatheletes.com, but eli just makes it soooo easy.
Later guys

Glad I posted finally. Thanks for the welcome and the conversation. Back later for the game.

BTB is hands down the best interactive Cowboys fan Web site available.

From the front page writers, to the posters and commentors, fans will learn about everything Cowboys related. From statistical analysis by O.C.C, football theory by CoachGary to draft and scouting postings by Birddog and Chia, among many others you can’t ask for anything more than that.
Now if Stephen, JJ, JG and the players show the intensity and passion the people on this website show, we may be watching our team in the SB next year.

I hope the Cowboys win today...
I joined for Shay! Where's Shay?
Hi to all the new Posters

If I may offer a piece of advice.

Keep posting….regardless if you are a pessimist, Realist, or optimist. The more the merrier.

Welcome Roco have some Kool-aid.
I'd like to ask that a few members START lurking.

Kidding of course!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday BtB!

I like what Eli just said. Good, candid interview.

I hope the Giants beat them soundly. Bring another shiny, silver trophy to the Beast.

Cant bring myself to root for the Giants. Just CAN NOT.

But wow, Eli has really made a statement this year. He’s one of the top 5 best QB’s in all of the NFL. Hall of Fame’r.?.?

Have to see the rest of the year.

Osi just made a ton of good points about line play and how both are better than they used to be.
We are in the process, I see our lines on the uptick given recent success of talent dept.

Are you putting up a Game Thread, Dave?

Or is this GT #1?

Exactly!!!

The Giants are on a roll.

I confess as well

I’ve been visiting this site for the last few years, since it offers the best fan insights. And today is only what I can imagine torture feels like. I can’t help but watch, but seeing these teams in the Super Bowl just plain sucks. Really enjoy reading Chia’s comments, and many many others as well. Cheers.

I had not checked in today until just now. Great idea.

I had a choice between watching the game and doing my taxes, so I went with the more fun option. My refund will be here soon.

I stumbled across the site reading an article on Yahoo! Signed up one day when I couldn’t stand not being able to comment any more. And things have gone pretty well since.

Welcome, everyone. Lift your (Kool Aid) glasses with wishes for a good year in 2012!

This man is a shining example of what writing a crap-ton of quality Cowboys articles can get you!

Do not be afraid, newbies!!!

Just wanna say

Its nice to have a forum where most of the posts are intellegent and well thought out. Of course I do not agree with everything that is said but I can understand the reasoning behind most opinions unlike opinions expressed on some other sites I have looked at.

Eli having to settle for field goals

Funny, no one is telling him he cant get it done with FGs

glad to have you aboard.

First Post

I found this site during the 2011 season and found it to be a great source for Cowboys info, not too mention the wide variety of informed(mostly) opinions! During the season I found myself coming back to BTB more frequently and for longer stretches of time. Thus, I finally created an account last week, but had not made a post yet.

I am a life-long Cowboys fan, first game I ever attend was in 1987 againt the St.Louis Cardinals…yes, St. Louis, which Dallas won to finish 7-8 and I still have the program from, though I mostly had a rough go of it early in life living about 40 minutes from Philadelphia. Man, those late 80’s/early 90’s Eagles teams just put a hurting on Dallas and the Philly fans, verbally, on me! It would get so rough that our football games with family (half from Texas half from Pennsylvania) would almost deginerate into fights! The absolute low-point was that 24-0 drubbing back in ’91, but beating the Eagles in the playoffs to start the streak of winning 3 out of 4 superbowls. Nothing beats being a young-teen and having your team win multiple superbowls!

Sadly, that glorious early/mid 90s period as made the past 17 years of mediocrity feel even worse. However as we all saw lastnight, luck plays a huge part in how the ball bounces and it seems Dallas used up 20 years of luck/karma in a five-year period. Hopefully we can start to get the ball bouncing our way again…..not the giants way!

Anyway, on to the team we all love, which some of us seem to love to hate! I will now be joining the commetnting fray with my eyeball assessment of Dallas (note: I do love all the new fangled advanced stats being introduced to football) and looking forward to some good subjective and objective debates with all of you!

A belated welcome to you too, good sir.
Welcome to the best place on the net.

Don’t be shy.

Good morning

I first saw BTB sometime around 2008-9 looking for different sites to get my boys “fix”…I found very quickly that the topics here were different than others..Here i found many links to information that i never found on others. It was a different class of people commenting too. Everywhere else i’d see Romo bashing JJ bashing Garrett bashing and most of it was in a vile format..I hate it when all you see is a bunch of ugly comments from uninformed people but here on BTB everyone seems to be informed before they post. BTB also has the best stories and most are written in a way where the reader can can check where all the info was gathered. Nobody here seems to have a fat head..BTB is now the only site i need to log on to get the full cowboy experience..Thank you Dave and all the writers
