It seems that a recruit to TCU told the coach that drug use was going on. So he did a surprise drug test. A player claims that 82 players failed the drug test. Police have arrested 17 students, including 4 players so far for dealing drugs.

The 82 failed drug tests for the football teams sounds really high, However it was quoted in the arrest warrant. I wonder how many players they have on the roster. I want to say probably somewhere around 100 is what the Razorbacks had back when I went there, many, many years ago.

Sucks for my boy Brock. Another Copperas Cove alumni’s career down the drain. Atleast we still have Charles Tillman and RGIII.

Can he declare for the supplemental draft?
"Under my watch, drugs and drug use by TCU’s student-athletes will not be tolerated by me or any member of my coaching staff," Patterson said. "Our program is respected nationally for its strong ethics and for that reason the players arrested today were separated from TCU by the university. I believe strongly that young people’s lives are more important than wins or losses.
He added: "At the end of the day, though, sometimes young people make poor choices. The Horned Frogs are bigger and stronger than those involved."

i' would like to know who was the rat
Many TCU students

come from very wealthy families and feel like they are above the rules. It’s a privileged mentality that I witnessed firsthand. Most college-aged kids think they are bulletproof anyway, but TCU kids take it to the next level. I can only imagine what the current crop of football players feel like after being coddled and adored by the college and student body (It’s been a good ten years since I knew TCU players and back when the team stunk they thought they walked on water).

The fact that a “prize recruit” (according to the FW Star Telegram) told the coach he wouldn’t go there because the drug use by the team was too high makes this story even crazier.

You attended TCU?
My sister graduated from there. I didn't see any such attitude, no did I see a "majority" of students come from very wealthy families.
Rena

I didn’t say “majority” I said “many.” I stand by that statement.

Sounds more like SMU, not TCU.
Dire

Maybe, but I didn’t spend as much time around SMU as I did TCU (or know as many students) so it’s hard for me to say. I have a close friend who attended both. I’ll ask her what she thinks about the comparisoon.

Yeah, it does sound like SMU.

The best athletes money can buy. :)

Didn't attend

But lived literally a couple blocks over from where Brock was arrested (after my first degree) and grew up in the Ft Worth area.

I've attended

4 colleges and have taught at 5 over the course of my career (I’m an English professor in real life).

Since when did Sam Hurd start coaching at TCU?
The recruit happens to go to my school

After visiting their dorms, he said “all they do is smoke weed,” to our coach who then told TCU

I graduated from TCU

in 1982, when F.A. Dry was the coach. I majored in sociology, which usually attracts a lot of athletes. Most football players would show up on the first day of class and the for the final exam. I don’t know how many of those smoked up, but I did know a few regular students who did. As far as students who thought they were above the law, or better than others, we had the frat punks and the sorority b*****s that were like that. I was a GDI, and a member of the powerlifting team, and we considered the “greeks” to be losers.
