Former Dolphins head man Nick Saban has assembled a near-professional roster down in Alabama. They head to New Orleans to try and win the rematch and BCS Championship against undefeated LSU.
The long awaited rematch has arrived, as LSU and Alabama prepare to face off for the BCS Championship in New Orleans. No two schools feature as many pro prospects as these two SEC universities, as witnessed by my summer series, "Pet Cats". At the time, there were 15 potential draftees between the competitors, and apparently the question of who was the best team went unanswered in LSU's 9-6 victory on November 5th.
Now, after over a month worth of rest for each school, they meet again for all the marbles. LSU is undefeated with victories over several top programs, while Alabama has only the loss to the Tigers but a much higher grade of players with pro potential.
The game features the two best defenses in the country, as well as the top two cornerback prospects in LSU's Morris Claiborne and Alabama's Dre Kirkpatrick. For those wondering, LSU's Tyrann Matthieu is a true sophomore and will not be eligible for the 2012 amateur draft.
Consider this your open game thread, to discuss the action as it unfolds. Geaux Tigers, Roll Tide.
Follow the jump for a list of the pro prospects (according to NFLDraftScout.com) from each of the combatants.

Alabama has the better collection of prospects
by looking at the position ranks.
LSU probably has the best player on the field though, in Mathieu.
Rohpuri - January 9, 2012 via mobile
He is my favorite college player at the moment.
The kid has a motor that just doesn’t stop. Long live the Honey Badger. He don’t care. He don’t give a $#!%.
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
Mathieu will play safety in the pros. He isn't good enough to play cb in the pros.
He is a good college cb but his style of play is better suited to safety.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
ROOOLLLLLLL TIIIIIDDDEE!!!
Good game, huh?
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
what about Mathieu and the entire DL
LSU may have the better collection ofprospects
ratware - January 9, 2012
It's a toss-up
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
It's close.
But I’d give the edge to Bama based on 1st round talent
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
and it's a pretty broad edge
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
the thing is LSU D-line is 1st round talent but next year
ratware - January 9, 2012
In what universe....
….is Tyrann Mathieu better than Trent " Beastmode" Richardson?
Amen Amachigh - January 10, 2012 via Android app
Number 1 and number 2 CB on the field.
Interesting to take a look, anyway.
Tom Ryle - January 9, 2012
Lord knows we could use either.
Although I am really starting to get attached to the idea of DeCastro already.
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
I take SEC DBs with a grain of salt
However, Peterson (Corner) last yr, Mathieu (Corner) and Barron (FS) this yr are really good. The reason I am typically skeptical as to how good SEC DBs really are is because the QB play is usually not the greatest from yr to yr.
Rohpuri - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Oh yeah.
The best QB they’ve had recently is Garcia from South Carolina, probably McElroy is a close second. Either way it’s not like they’ve seen an NFL style offense anytime soon. I guess Tebow was a pretty good college passer too. They do have their fair share of elite athletes at WR, so I guess that makes at least the one on one match ups interesting.
Omar Little - January 9, 2012
Cam Newton?
Rena - January 11, 2012
Hit enter to soon.
Mallett was also drafted last year, the current Razorback QB is pretty good to. Just off the top of my head.
Rena - January 11, 2012
Here we geaux!
Bama = Tiger Bait
Roll Tiiiiiiiiiiiiigers!
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
I feel like its some future Cowboys on this field
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Hell, Brad Wing might be the replacement for Mat McBriar
what a punt
KD Drummond - January 9, 2012
was he talkin trash after the kick?
lmao Sign him up!
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
That punt was ridonculous
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
LSU kicker got swagger
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
He's gonna swagger his way into someone wrecking him on a punt return.
He ran down the field and mouthed off to Maze I think.
Damn. Who looks bad right now. Hammie?
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
Wing = Next McBriar
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Wing > McBriar
Mikellie - January 9, 2012
So we know how bad McBriar is?
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
C'mon Bama.
Revenge.
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
Upshaw is a beast
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
Upshaw is insane...
me likey
death of the cool - January 9, 2012
I can't wait til the draft
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
who is that Maze guy?
he had a nice burst on that punt return
Antonio S - January 9, 2012 via Android app
4th or 5th round slot guy, good returner the last 2 years.
He’s small but he’s got some moves and quickness. Tough competitor.
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
Maze is a midget. He won't make an nfl roster.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
So was Eric Metcalf and he had heck of a career
StrosSouth - January 10, 2012
He ain't Eric Metcalf.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
And you knw for a fact he wont/cant be productive how? do you have a crystal
ball that allows you to see into the future?
StrosSouth - January 10, 2012
You reeeaaaally let your prejudices affect how you judge guys,
Maze is too small but it doesn’t matter for Clairborne!
Yeah, right……………..
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
LOL there are 100 Maze's out there. I never let prejudices stand in the way.
If Maze played for Montana St you wouldn’t even know who he is.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
BTW Claiborne is 6'. With no passes thrown his way.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
I'll be rewatching this game and enjoying every second, and I'll get back to you.
I swear I can remember him giving up some passes. I may be wrong.
Realist Larry - January 11, 2012
I dont watch college football
But LSU lookin sloppy this quarter
BrickTop - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Too much speed on ALA D
Thats why LSU looks sloppy
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Damn
That was a beautiful catch
BrickTop - January 9, 2012 via mobile
yeah it was
KD Drummond - January 9, 2012
Honey Badger only 5'9"
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Smelley too slow.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
That was a great tackle
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Close
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Didn't look like he quite made it on the replay but probably won't reverse it
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I got money on this.
Roll Tide.
Kevin L - January 9, 2012
Good bet. But I want LSU to pull it out
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
Can't root for Bama
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
deja vu so far
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
Mathieu = Big time player
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
If only he were 6'
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
He plays like he is
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
Not on that great catch by Bama
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
key words
great catch. The coverage wasn’t bad
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
But if he was 6', I'm sure it would have helped
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
If he were a little taller no catch.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
true that
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
I love the guy, don't get me wrong but
NFL receivers are for the most part big. Covering guys like Fitzgerald, Megatron, etc. woiuld scare me. Otherwise this kid can do everthing. The days of Darrell Green-like corners are over I fear.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I would move him to FS
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Could be sweet.
The dude’s instincts are just too good. Can’t teach that
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
That's why I take him in the second, Chia, I think he could be a healthy
Bob Sanders.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I like that
Archie Barberio - January 10, 2012
That was a great catch nothing he could do about that
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
don't overthink it, he's a great football player
I would take him in the first when he comes out for the draft
matt575 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
2nd not first.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Pretty good block by LSD.
Mikellie - January 9, 2012
They're spacey man!
Nickthegrip - January 9, 2012
Can LSU get one first down ?
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Kirkpatrick and Upshaw having real good games
Upshaw looks quicker than I thought so far
if Kirkpatrick is somehow available at 14, I am running up to the clock to take him
a CB who has ball skills and tackles, rare
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Upshaw is unreal.
For some reason, I’m nervous about taking a CB too early this year. And I can’t explain to you why. Perhaps it’s the fact that CBs tend to take longer to adjust to the NFL…iunno
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
exactly what I wanted to see from Upshaw
speed
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
you see him on that screen?
forced the pitch back…but STILL caught up to it for no gain. Unreal
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
yup
shows his burst and quickness
that play alone sold me
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Yup
I’d be real happy with either Decastro, Kirkpatrick, Upshaw or Ingram. Hopefully one falls come draft
BrickTop - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I got a list and one of them should be there
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Then we can't miss round one...
…and this makes me happy
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
at 14 yeah
considering the Cowboys usually only grade 18-20 1st rounders a year, so that is why I hate everyones trade down theory, they won’t get a player with a first round grade
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
I have my preferences but would be happy with any of them.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I was just writing that Mingo is raising my eyebrows so far too...
…then he makes another play
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
yup
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
that Mingo guy is a beast
Antonio S - January 9, 2012 via Android app
I think their whole front 4 is beast
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
you think Mingo could play OLB?
Antonio S - January 9, 2012 via Android app
He's quick enough. Would def fit better at OLB in a 3-4
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
idk what he is listed at size wise
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
6'5 240ish
sophomore, I believe
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
then most likely 3-4 OLB
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Mingo was not a starter this year.
There is more to come with him.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
One thing you can say about both teams, they don't miss much tackles
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
if either had a good QB, each team would be on another level
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Why is that?
You’d think these 2 would be able to get the top QB prospects in the country. Are QBs generally too smart and go to Stanford, USC, etc or what.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I have no idea
but imagine if these teams had a good QB
Archie Barberio - January 10, 2012
LSU has 2 in the fold and 1 coming in....
Zach Mettenberger will start next year. They also have David Rivers who is you know that other Rivers guy in San Diego’s brother. Those 2 alone will improve Lsu in a huge way at qb. Mettenberger is 6’5" 250lbs and can run. A rocket for an arm. Lsu fans wanted him to start this year. Miles just doesn’t operate that way.
BTW Rivers is from Alabama.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
Wonder where Richardson will go
he is a much better prospect than Ingram
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Somewhere in the first, but where is anyone's guess.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I hope he doesn't fall to 14
because it would be insane to pass on him and unless I got a great trade package I wouldnt trade out of the pick
trading back that late takes away basically any chance with the Cowboys getting a player with a first round grade
but if the package was too good to pass up on, I would consider
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
We can take Claiborne or Kirkpatrick this year.
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
Claiborne gone by #14
Dre may be too. DeCastro!
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Claiborne won't last past 7-8
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Claiborne top 5 easy
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
at 14?
I’m so sure if they will be there but who knows
Antonio S - January 9, 2012 via Android app
I am gonna pray Kirkpatrick falls to us but its not likely at all
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Agree
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
its just a rare skill set
6’3, ball skills, tackles
I place a premium on that skill set
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
I know Chia, he's tempting, I just am leaning towards protecting Tony and favor
DeCAstro by a nose.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I'm pretty sure I agree.
This #14 thing has my head spinnin…
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
So many needs...
So many possibilities…
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
a lot of different directions we can go, I like options
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
It's really a great position, lots of options at #14 in this draft.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
yeah I like that, #9 last year had a lot of options too
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
I like UNC DE Couples.
If I spelled his name right. Or South Carolina’s Ingram.
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
I hate Coples
too many red flags for me
drive, motor, character, hunger
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Ingram I like.
I agree with Chica on Coples. Def some character concerns…looked to be mailing it in a lot this year
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
no motor looks like he quits
Ingram on the other hand has an amazing motor
love that guy
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Damn.
I saw some mocks giving us Coples. Thought he sounded like a good pick.
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
More 4-3 DE
so I’d be surprised if he’s on our board.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Ingram though...
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
definitely Ingram. I'd actually favor him slightly over Dre
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I agree with this.
But Kirkpatrick is mighty tempting.
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
idk how he lasts to 14 either
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
That's my biggest fear.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
idk how he lasts to 14
thats why I am not tied down to one player, keeping my options open
right now its Kirkpatrick Ingram or DeCastro for me, but Upshaw is rising on my short list at 14
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Upshaw can play opposite of D Ware so I agree
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Hey if we sign Sporano then DeCastro looks like a good pick.
Wasn’t he our offensive line coach the year Romo had 35 TD’s in 2007? He could spark this young line.
Free-Nagy-DeCastro-?-Smith
? Arkin
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
you gotta flip Free and Tron there
DeCastro will be guard not center
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Sparano*
Yea my bad on the tackles.
And then Costa center I guess?
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
Maybe they want to give him an offseason to get stronger
Maybe Konz from Wisc will drop to 2nd
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
I doubt that
Konz was the # 1 ranked Center in his Class(which would have been next year)
I don’t think any of the top 5 from this year beat him out from that ranking…
I am Ironman!!! - January 10, 2012
I'm starting to get with BED on Upshaw
He might be Close Enough Courtney, rather than Almost Anthony.
Omar Little - January 9, 2012
NO way on Claiborne
Too too small.
Let someone else have that guy and overpay.
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
LOL @ too small. Claiborne didn't have one pass thrown his way yesterday.
He is a better cover cb than Dre.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
you probably don't want to rewatch this one but Bama absolutely threw at him
But that’s besides the point. For the NFL he’s a good 3rd slot CB but too small.
I’m not claiming big things for Dre in the NFL either, he may too stiff. Combine will tell a lot on him and the LB’s from Bama.
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
U are thinking of Tyran the honey badger.
You aren’t able to seperate your love for Bama from fact.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
You are both right and wrong.
Correct: I was confusing them.
Wrong: Not because I’m a Bama homer, but because I don’t follow LSU and didn’t pay attention to them. To me they are just “those tiny LSU CB’s” and the same thing.
The way others might confuse Bama linebackers Hightower and Upshaw.
Now: I’m still going to watch that game and let you know if Bama completed a pass on Claiborne!
By the way, you should learn to not be so personally attached to your tteams.
Realist Larry - January 12, 2012
Oh, and as far as 'love for Bama from fact' I've been telling people to stay away from a lot of Bama players
And have never overly praised them and wanted them drafted.
Read any of my posts on that you want.
I said stay away from Ingram last year.
I would NOT draft TR in the first.
And all of their players on D are kind of big and benefit from having had the best coaching available and being surrounded by so much talent.
I’m all wait on see on Barron, Kirkpatrick, Upshaw, and Hightower for the combine. They need to show quickness and agility for me to be interested.
That D was so good, including the DL that no one talks about, that it’s really hard to judge them as individuals.
However McClain has been pretty good for Oakland so far, altho nothing that suggests a premeier player.
Realist Larry - January 12, 2012
Given that it's 3-0, it's a fairly entertaining game.
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
Damn that was holding
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
By far the best 2 tackling teams I seen all season, both in college and the NFL
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Both of these Ds may be better than ours.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Heh.
:)
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
lol thats sad on our case
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
they def hit harder
Antonio S - January 9, 2012 via Android app
and tackle, cover and rush
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
+1 lol like I said just sad
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Patience, DJ-san.
There will be a defensive fire sale soon. We’ll gut it just like we did the Oline this past offseason. Or at least that’s what I pray
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
I remember I used to like watching our defense
but that was like 2007 and 2009
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Last time the D always showed progress during the season was when Mike Zimmer was the DC
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Late in 2009 was fun.
Then we got old.
DCyanks21 - January 9, 2012
I wonder if we'll see a TD this game...
Doubt it
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
What's a Touchdown?
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I'd be happy
to take either Kirkpatrick or Upshaw. The’re both ballin tonight. Richardson is a beast, he hits that hole quickly and violently.
nycowboysfan - January 9, 2012
Lots of guys who will be playing on Sundays
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
This board has DeCastro graded at #3.
http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/college_big_board_rankings.html
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
Someone posted yesterday that they saw him as high as the #2 player in this draft.
I’m just hoping that because he’s a guard he falls to us.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Kansas City is the team I think takes him
Pioli, just looks like his type of pick
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
They are the most likely, I'm just hoping that they don't because they have more needs than even we do.
I’m really pissed at Barkley and Jones for not declaring this year.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
yeah it would have driven two guys down
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
I just don't think they'll go O line in the first round. I think D will get priority.
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
KC?
I’ve seen KC focus a lot of picks on defense, so I see Pioli trying to build that OL since he cant get a QB
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
And they have a run game. I think they go Oline.
And that totally sucks
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
Sorry, I meant the Cowboys.
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
well this is what I believe
The Cowboys LOVED Iupati, DeCastro is the same if not better, I see them LOVING him too
he might be the BPA when we go on the clock, Dallas would draft BPA, and in this case a player they love
its a dream scenario for them
then the rest of the damn draft better be defense though
if they drafted DeCastro I would give that pick an A+
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Romo and Demarco approve, I'm sure.
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
for sure
it just gives us a great guard, something we havent had in a long time
pair with Free and Tyron, fix the other G spot maybe C and all of a sudden this line is one of the best after its low point last year
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
for years and year to come.
I don’t know how I would react to such security. lol
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
What do you think of Kowalski at center?
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
I like him better than Costa
Archie Barberio - January 10, 2012
I think Killer only gets better with an actual off season with
the team and Woicik
StrosSouth - January 10, 2012
Not only that...
DeCastro might help out whoever plays center. I think one of Akrin/Nagy will workout at guard, if not it may be a situation that the play determines who plays guard. That could be one of the best OLs this team’s since the Stepnoski days.
Omar Little - January 9, 2012
Believe me, I wouldn't complain. I just have a feeling it'll be D early and
then O line maybe in round 3.
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
They also had Iupati as a trade up candidate...
If that’s the case, I think DeCastro’s better providing he passes the medicals. So one can infer that they’d trade up for DeCastro, which I’d be okay with.
Omar Little - January 9, 2012
I see Miami and Chiefs taking a tackle
Maybe Martin to Miami and say Reiff to chiefs i know Pioli loves his Iowa players
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
That's true and that's what I'm hoping. Both are really good, although I think DeCastro's better,
but I’m hoping they view the Tackles as higher priorities and, therefore, more worthy of the high pick..
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
That's what I'm hoping.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
that is KC goes D
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
or Miami
they might take em too
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
true
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
miami just drafted a guard last year in the first
the other pouncey brother. Believe it was with the 14th pick, or at least in the 14-16 range. Doubt they spend a higher pick on another interior lineman two years in a row
rchawk12 - January 10, 2012
They might after witnessing the disaster that is Marc Columbo this season
StrosSouth - January 10, 2012
He is considered the next Steve Hutchinson but still seems a little high for a guard
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
I'm just hoping that anti-guard in the top 10-15 sentiment holds and we're the ones who kill that steryotype.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I still don't understand that opinion
O line is so important, why shouldn’t you take a guard top 15 if they are good enough?

He's saying exactly that. He's saying that a lot of folks won't take a guard
that high, and he’s hoping they continue to feel that way so DeCastro is available, and we take him.
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
I know
I’m just saying that I don’t understand that opinion in general. I was just agreeing with him.
me gusta - January 9, 2012 via mobile
I was hoping that all those drafting in front of us feel that that high a draft pick shouldn't be used for a guard then we can grab him.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
I know, I was agreeing and I really like DeCastro
I’m just saying that I don’t get why a lot of people (not you, but there are lots of people saying it) think that guards aren’t worth picking that high. IMO, o line is right up with QB in importance to a team.
me gusta - January 9, 2012 via mobile
Just the nature of the NFL
Teams like to spend 1st rounders on amazing athletes. Teams feel like they can get really good starting guards in later rounds. They can grab say a big 6’5 320 pounder and turn him into a pro bowler. Coaches, coach em up on technique get them stong in the weight room and you get a good starting guard
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Oh, I'm sorry. I misunderstood.
Fernie67 - January 9, 2012
I' m not confident Decastro lasts until 14.
It seems like interior offensive line players are being more valued and chosen higher then in previous years.
nycowboysfan - January 9, 2012
So...
Does LSU even have a first down yet ?
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Just 1
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
If ALA scores a TD coming out of half, just wrap it up
Don’t see LSU offense coming back on that defense
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Chia
What do you think of A. Dennard? Had a tough time in the recent bowl game plus he lost his cool and got tossed out of the game. Is 14 too high to take him?
nycowboysfan - January 9, 2012
I like him a lot
I would take him at 14 if they really liked him and some guys were gone
I just like the kid a lot and would have no problem drafting him 14th overall
instant starter
Archie Barberio - January 9, 2012
Dennard is build like a tank, but is on the short side 5'8"-5'10"
can tackle and cover, but you can see what Jeffrey, a taller receiver, did to him when he didn’t jam him on the line of scrimmage.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
LSU is getting pwned.
I really really enjoyed that first half. lol
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
Cmon LSU win
Nick Saben is the Devil
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Yes, he is the Devil.
But still … Roll Tide.
bloodyhanded - January 9, 2012
Yep, I heard he was a closet member of Led Zepplin
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
LSU should bench Jordan.
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012
Jefferson really stinks.

Upshaw from the 3-4 OLB position
intriguing
KD Drummond - January 9, 2012
Very, non stop motor
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Upshaw's Stock is skyrocketing
Trueblue122 - January 9, 2012
Still not enough for me...
His past game footage is too much to trump one great game against an offense that can’t get out of its own way. I still have concerns that he’s Spencer pt. 2, not that Spencer’s a bad player, just that I can see lots of disappointed fans after this pick. My first round board:
Kalil (yeah right, more like KaLOL…he’ll be gone way too soon)
DeCastro
Claiborne
Ingram
Dennard
Kirkpatrick
Irvin
Perry
Upshaw
Still
I think they’ll get one of those players.
Omar Little - January 9, 2012
Konz should be there too...
I have him a little bit ahead of Upshaw.
Omar Little - January 9, 2012
upshaw
I was all for decastro before this…upshaw looks awesome so far. I’m sold.
b.cantrell22 - January 9, 2012 via mobile
This might not be a very entertaining game as far as offense is concerned,
but at least Campo is gone.
jakezze01 - January 9, 2012
they had bettert get
Lee in the game
pfloyd1 - January 9, 2012

on Bama’s side of the field?
centralkscowboysfan - January 9, 2012
lol unreal how bad LSU is playing on O tonight
djthumpl - January 9, 2012
Nah not really. Meet Jordan Jeffferson.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
Nah, it's how good Bama's D is playing. They would make Ok St or Oregon look like this too
One of the best D’s ever put together.
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
Nope. Jefferson makes all defenses look good.
Ok St would score on Bama. Oregon would too. Jefferson plays scared and is the single worst college qb in captivity. Lsu fans know this.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
Ok State and Oregon would find out what a real D is like and get destroyed
LSU already showed that early in the year against Oregon and Bama’s D is even better,
Not to mention that their OLine and TR would roll through them and put 40 up easily.
Ok State would get blown out like Mich. State did last year. Complete domination on the LineofScrimmage, no running game, and their QB would be begging for mercy by halftime if he wasn’t knocked out of the game.
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
Yep gumps always think their team could win every game by 40 with out walking on the field.
You remind me of my USC buddy.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
Nope. Not "always". But this year, those other teams inother conferences have no f'in' idea what would hit them if they played LSU or Bama.
LSU destroyed Oregon early. Bama’s D is better, Bama’s OLione is better and Bama’s QB play is better.
And Richardson would run through those teams for 200 yards. It’d be no contest.
Did you see what Bama did to Mich. State last year? hardly a healthy QB left in the game, I was seriously afraid for those guys.
And LSU would do the same.
Realist Larry - January 11, 2012
Ugh. End this.
As a Tide fan and the ball at our 30 I am concerned.
Les Miles freakshow wins have been the normal over the years.

after tonight I'm hoping for a bama defense pick with #14
be it upshaw or kirkpatrick (eh) or barron their defense is stacked with first round talent who could help us out
Nets2410 - January 9, 2012 via Android app
Jordan Jefferson can make any d look great.
Dre and Upshaw had a good game but if you think they are all world tackling machines go watch hi lites of bama vs Ga. Southern. Bama allows over 300 yards rushing to a div 2 school.
football mensa - January 10, 2012
In fairness...it's a triple option offense that no one outside Paul Robinson at GA Tech runs.
If you screw up even a little bit they can blow right past you.

howboutdemcowboyz - January 10, 2012 via mobile
Nope. Everything this year was gravy. Astute Lsu fans were targeting 2012 as the year.
Thoughts….
1. Alabama had more upperclassmen on defense. Next year Lsu will be what you saw on Bama this year.
2. I can’t get into specifics but there is a reason Jordan Jefferson kept playing. Every Lsu fan hates Jefferson and for good reason. Next year and for the 3 years after Lsu will have stellar qb play. Last thing about Jefferson his job of bagging groceries begins in May and I hope someone will skull frick his gorilla face.
3. Lsu loses very little this year. If you thik Brockers is good watch Anthony Johnson next season. He is a 295lbs true frosh playing dt. Not only is there Mingo and Montgomery but Jamariua Roscoe will be added to the mix. .
4. You will see the best stable of running backs in all of college next season. Kenny Hilliard is the beast. His uncle is Dalton Hillard who played with the Saints.
5. This was a good season for Lsu. It won’t be close to how good they will be in 2012.
6. Congrats to Tide fans on this site.

football mensa - January 10, 2012
You guys are set for the next 2 years. Bama has an entire NFL draft leaving.
That’s why I really wanted this one, they will drop a bit now.
But they have a good QB and some good young WR’s.
Realist Larry - January 10, 2012
Roll freakin Tide.
I moved to OK several years ago, and now will have to put up with annoying OK St fans who want to talk about how they won their conference, Wheedon is unstoppable, blah blah. To which I reply, always, “Iowa St.”
That was the purest beatdown I’ve ever seen, and I am totally satisfied.
Now, for the Cowboys, go pick some good players.
Johnny Cage - January 10, 2012
I could see...
Upshaw 1st rd, Barron 2nd rd, Hightower 3rd rd, and Chapman 4th rd.
jtgreet02 - January 10, 2012 via mobile
If you fix the D-line and the Pass rush....
You then watch you secondary look better. No one can cover for as long as we gave Eli!
jtgreet02 - January 10, 2012 via mobile
Agreed
The Giants secondary isn’t that good. They only “look good” when they’re d-line is killing the quarterback. Otherwise, they get roasted.
