Cowboys DeMarcus Ware Named To AP All-Pro Team

After taking the 2010 season off from his string of accolades, Dallas Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware has returned to his familiar perch as the best at what he does. The seventh-year pro was named on Friday to his fourth First-Team All-Pro team by the Associated Press. He finished his campaign with 19.5 sacks, just a half sack away from becoming the first player in NFL history to have more than one season at 20 sacks or more. Ware was the only Cowboys player named to the first team.

Despite suffering a stinger in the first contest against the New York Giants, Ware started in all 16 games for the season for sixth time in his career, and played in all for the seventh consecutive season. Considering all of the "hold-your-breath" scares he's been involved in over the years it's amazing that he hasn't missed a single contest.

Limited in the final four games of the season, Ware was not able to walk away with the league sack title however. That went to Minnesota's Jared Allen who finished the season with 22 sacks, just shy of Michael Strahan's 22.5 league record. Allen was also named to his fourth All-Pro first team.

Ware finished the 2010 campaign with 48 tackles and 10 assists, to go along with his high sack total. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one.

His 19.5 sacks brings his career total to 99.5, which is the NFL record for the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise kept track of sack totals before it became an official NFL statistic, so the club record is actually held by Harvey Martin and his 114. With a slightly above-average season in 2012 (Ware has averaged 14.2 sacks a year), he should be able to unify the official and unofficial belts, so to speak. Martin also holds the single-season mark at 23 in one season (in 14 games). Breaking that mark in 2012 would possibly place Ware as the greatest pass rusher of all-time.

Due to Ware's abnormally high penalty rate in 2011 (11 called, 9 accepted), Ware finished third amongst OLB's in Pro Football Focus cumulative game grades; behind Miami's Cameron Wake and San Francisco's Aldon Smith. Regardless, it was another banner year for the Cowboys premiere defensive player.

damn son, Spencer got robbed

are you telling me and his 6 sacks didn’t make All Pro?
highway robbery
I demand a recount

I know! If it wasn't for Spencer this Ware scrub would be nothing
This Ware kid is gonna break out one these games you just wait and watch.
we should trade this Ware kid for a fifth round.
Naw jsut cut him hes been a disappointment all these years
Don't tell the Spencer supporters

They’ll stage an Occupy The Associated Press movement and demand a reconsideration of Spencer’s talents.

19.5 sacks? big deal

Spencer had 51 tackles, that DPOY material right there. If it wasnt for Spencer being such a beast in the run game Ware would never have so many chances to rack up those pasing down tackle for losses.

Matter of fact Ware should give Spencer his contract because Spencer is the irreplaceable one. and he only 27. its only his 6th year. dude got so much potential

dump Ware while you can, he’s way over the hill

19.5 Sacks by Ware, please.

It’s all about Spencer’s ability to drop back into pass coverage and accumulate tackles for loss against RBs. That’s what we need, more players like Anthony Spencer.

HUGE Props to D-WARE! future hall of famer no doubt.
I wish he could play forever

my favourite palyer on the team no doubt, i just would love to see him pissed off more often

It would be nice to see DeMarcus Ware get a SB ring with the Boys.
Kudos to KD Drummond for giving Harvey Martin the proper respect

cause Jerry Jones hasn’t .

Well done KD Drummond

His penalties have really hurt us, this year. I think it's because he's trying too hard.

With better supporting staff, he should be able to play more within himself.

Some of those offsides are bogus

Just him with that lightning first step. Even some ANNOUNCERS at the games mentioned that.

And then let us talk about all the holds he gets that don’t get called

Nuts lets talk about the times he gets TACKLED and doesn’t get the call

Doesn't matter. If he knows that he'll get called, then he should stop.

Same thing as in baseball, when you know the umpire is calling borderline pitches as strikes, you have to swing at them.

I remember earlier in the year that

Warren Sapp said DWare couldn’t lead ants to a picnic. I saw nothing from him this year that disputes that claim. DWare is a sacred cow to most fans so its easier to say he gets double-teamed every time (which he clearly doesn’t) then to explain why he never makes plays when it counts. I think he knows it which is why he got so many penalties this year trying to make a play. Congrats though.

Congrats to D-Ware!

Well earned and well deserved. Favorite player.
