Great job stripping the ball but it is still live and I see players already signaling 1st down. Fly to the ball until the whistle blows. That showed a lack of situational awareness.
Sorry guy, im not playing in the nfl. Not anything i can do about it. i personally dont like the celebration but as far as making them penaltys i dont know if i even agree with that. HOWEVER if you do have a penalty in, enforce it for everybody.
No, Romo took a lot of risky throws that paid off to make the line look good.
This year, he finally admitted what he has been doing that all along…trying to make up for the short comings of others…and compounding the problems…how good would Romo be if he was allowed to play within himself?
If you’re referring to the fact that Romo is still the best chance to go to the Superbowl? Then, yes. The strength of the Cowboys is their Offense…and the reason their O has been so good in the past 5-6 years is Romo.
Its funny that you say that about him helping Eli this year
I 100% believe that. I was telling a friend of mine that and he told me i was just being an Eli hater. I really wasn’t. It just makes too much sense. I’m sure they were watching film together, going over game plans, etc….
Harbaugh kept the defense the same, but really helped develop the offense
Under Nolan and Sing it was Gore running dives on first and second down, and get pissed at Alex when he couldn’t bail em out on 3rd an long. Harbaugh understood that QB needs to get in rhythm early so he can get confidence.
Defensive minded meat heads like Nolan and Sing tried to recreate the 1985 Bears and 2000 Ravens.
the oline coach didn't have anything to do with it
just a lack of talent in my opinion. Same thing with Dave Campo. I don’t care if Vince Lombardi was the secondary coach. Our secondary would have still sucked.
Then they have 1st rounder vernon Davis, Crabtree, and Smith. Not to mention the defense that has 1st rounds like Rogers, Whitner, Willis, Justin Smith, that rookie from Mizzu who’s name i cant think of right now.
Point is, they have tons of talent. Our oline doesnt and our secondary doesn’t
When you attend these bowl games and the combines. There are 32 NFL teams who employ a ton of people to stake out your hotel and every night spot in town.
As a cowboy fan I always believed he was but wasn’t sure if that was just my cowboy bias. I’m wondering if some of the older fans remember that happening with any other player in the nfl before moose.
I think as a coach, you have to be demanding and at times tough
But you also need to have heart and care for your players. The one thing I have found is that players want honesty from coaches. And on top of it all, I think our new secondary coach put it this week. He did not care if a coach yelled at him, but give him answers and specifics on what to correct.
i heard it way before youtube, when I was in grade school, but I always figured it was some soul singing black dude that didnt get that famous, it blew my mind when i found out that was a white dude, i dont know why but it just did.
It’s like Amy Winehouse. I was certain before seeing her that she was a 300lb black woman. I freaked when I found out she was a white brittish crack wwwhhhhooooooo..arrrrggggggg
I’m tired of excuses. I want a Bus Driver QB. I want a QB from Division 1 from the Sec. I’m watching ESPN’s Year of the QB to see how Auburn and Wisconsin develop QBs, we need a new QB. I’m tired of Romo. I’m done talkin about him. I don’t want to hear anything about stats. Flacco doesn’t need stats he just wins.
It’s either this or Downton Abbey.
I root for a good game and for the winner to make the Cowboys look good somehow. Also, the more the Giants win, the lower their draft pick is… and I believe the harder their following schedule is.
The best team doesn’t always win. Just look at the AZ game and the first NYG game. We had those games won, just like Baltimore had their game won. One play doesn’t make the winning team the best.
the best team DOES always win … that’s what makes them the better team! How else could you judge a faceoff other than by the team that… wins?
One play? That doesn’t make sense. The game is full of plays, each one full of opportunity and meaning. The team that steps up and makes the most big plays, wins. And therefore is better.
I certainly don’t want to be a bad guest and argue, so I’ll leave it at that. We probably just grade teams by different criteria. Me, I’ll take the winner, and say that’s the best team (that day), 100 times out of 100.
Raise an interesting point, however the way it reads is that each team is guaranteed a possession… I do not believe that the kickoff counts as a possession… tho I could be wrong
The game was close enough in the final quarter where the final outcome was a coin toss. The Fumble was the only thing that separated the two teams. Giants are better than most other teams they faced…. not the Niners
Look at your signature, then tell me who can’t handle Dallas being in the playoffs… You’re a complete clown, bruh. And stop trying to be an internet tough guy. You look foolish enough as is
I couldn't care less about you, or any other fake fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
They manned up. Dallas doesn’t do this kind of thing
Yeah, that certainly sound like someone simply giving the gmen credit.
/rolls eyes
It’s the same chicken little bs you always spout. I call a spade a spade.
he looked lost the whole time. did you see him DIVE to catch a punt that would’ve been a touchback? did you see him fall flat on his face in the open field? did you miss the part where he let the ball hit him in the knee and then just let it go when he should have been sprinting as fast as possible the other way? he should be caned by the entire team and city
You hate the way he’s nice, polite, funny and even tempered? That makes him a tool? You’d prefer it maybe if he was Vanilla Ice or Danny McBride’s character in East Bound and Down?
Coming from the guy who's all ate up over me calling Eli a tool, insults questioning my sexuality mean absolutely nothing. Afterall, I didn't call him "nice, polite, and funny"...
Don’t worry, I’m not trying to steal your boyfriend, who is obviously “your type”
Our World Class Top 5 6th year starter gets to watch the better QB lead his NFC team to the SB AGAIN this year… Sad that so many folks put so much faith in a guy who’d rather vacation in Mexico with his honey than get prepped for a playoff game. Stats mean nothing unless they’re attached to a W. Hope his couch is firm and the fridge is stocked with Bud Light…
The only restriction is that a player and coach must have been retired at least five years before he can be considered. There are plenty of nominees who have never been in nor won a Super Bowl.
who were clearly one of the best to every play at that position. Like DWare? Without a SB win, I could see him being elected. Are you saying that Romo is that good?
If you are disregarding Dan Marino as one of the greatest QB’s to ever play the game, I don’t know what else to say to you. Actually, I have nothing to say bc you obviously don’t know a thing about football, and even less about QB play
but that’s all he is has to show for his career… Stats are not forever, as Brees showed this year by surpassing one of Marino’s records… In any case, Marino played in a SB… So, what does he have in common with Romo?
That record stood for 27 years, but you're probably right. There's nothing special about that.
My point, which you obviously don’t understand, is that Super Bowl appearances don’t necessarily mean ANYTHING when it comes to grading a QB’s performance. You wrote:
If anyone is counting…
It is 2 to 0, number of SB appearances by Eli and Romo respectively.
I’m saying the comparison means absolutely nothing, and doesn’t make sense of anything.
As it pertains to Marino, how can you say stats aren’t forever? He is in the Hall of Fame because of those stats. He is still relevant in the “Who was the best ever?” conversation because of those stats.
The comparison here is between Eli and Romo. As of now, Eli has a better chance of getting into the HOF off his one SB win and second SB appearance than Romo has with all his meaningless stats. As to those stats, Romo is not clearly one of the best QB’s to play the game, without a SB win. We really have to stop deluding ourselves here. Eli is the best QB in the NFC East. The guy knows how to win.
My whole point is your statement says nothing. It goes nowhere. There is no point to this statement:
If anyone is counting…
It is 2 to 0, number of SB appearances by Eli and Romo respectively.
This is not enough to definitively say Eli Manning is a better Quarterback than Tony Romo.
I would agree had you made a statement along the lines of:
The New York Giants are on their way to a second Super Bowl appearance in the last 5 years, whereas Dallas has no Super Bowl appearances in this time. The Giants are clearly the better team.
The HOF has absolutely nothing to do with your comparison.
Bringing up Dan Marino in this argument is completely relevant considering he is widely regarded as one of the best QB’s to ever play the game, despite his lack of Super Bowl wins and appearances.
The QB is not the only guy playing. Every player can only be judged on numbers…how else would you grade them? You can’t just judge QB’s on Super Bowl appearances when it takes 23 other guys to do their jobs just as well.
What's sad is someone who comes on a Cowboy's blog...
…only when there’s something to b*tch about. And then repeating the same tired nonsense over and over. You’re a pathetic person. I don’t need to meet you to have my mind made up about that
…in spite of Romo breaking a rib and puncturing a lung during the game. You probably forgot about this because it doesn’t fit your agenda. We played the Gmen very close in two games this year. You obviously (conveniently) forgot about that as well.
You are no “fan” I would watch a game with.
YOU’RE the one constantly b*tching about Dallas “not being any good”
You’re a chicken little, 110%. I’m not alone in this opinion like you are in yours
not only do our Cowboys always lose in the most ridiculous, heart-breaking ways, but the teams we despise like the giants always succeed in miraculous ways. god dammit….
You are going to be hard pressed to say that I’m not a “real” football fan. I live and breathe it 24/7/365. So, let’s not start getting on the Cowboys fans that are spread all over the country. I live in the Northeast and when I go to a Cowboys game in Cleveland or Buffalo, it looks like a home game for the Cowboys because there are so many of us at the games. Two of your teams are in the Northeast so I don’t know what you are talking about anyhow.
You are upset all right… It was the first clue I had that you weren’t a boy… Boys don’t get emotional like you do… Boys also know a lot more about football…
I’ve played enough sports at the high school and college level to know that some guys are winners and some are not. I have two nephews who have played Pee Wee football and Little League baseball since they were 6 years old. When I go to their games, I see it first hand. They are some boys that can make plays that the other boy’s can’t. Some make mistakes when the games are on the line, some make spectacular plays. After a few years, the other boys know the pecking order. Eli has probably been making these kinds of plays since he was in Pee Wee Football. Only you don’t know the pecking order…
My point is you are absolutely wrong to put so much faith in your "abilty" to pick out winners, no matter how many pee wee games you've watched.
Her point was that Eli benefited from his defense who played like champions, and a 49er defense that squandered away opportunity.
Clear things up for ya?
My point was not that I know how to pick winners, but that
the law of the jungle is that there are winners and there is everything else. (Heck, am I the only one here who has ever played a sport in high school?) Eli is a winner. Those here who do not want to face the truth, call him lucky. Truth is he makes plays when he has to. It hasn’t been easy sailing for him either. He has had to overcome his own inconsistent D, the lack of a running game, and his aging and injury-prone OL. As to our first game against them, you are deluded if you think it was his D that was making the throws that beat us in the 4th quarter. I’ll admit JPP is talented, but he is not that talented.
You are delusional if you think our defense has the ability of stopping a capable offense, run by a capable QB.
Seriously, right now it doesn’t take much. Do you watch the games? Have you seen our secondary? All our defense had to do was keep Eli from driving down the field twice for TD’s in the last 5-6 mins, and we win the last game. They couldn’t do it.
Puh-lease. They couldn’t stop REX GROSSMAN or MATT MOORE from looking like All-Pros this year.
You are approaching your argument all wrong.
I have given Eli PLENTY of praise this year. Look it up.
As for tonight, Eli should have thrown 2 picks. Easy ones. Boneheaded throws. The DB’s dropped them both.
The 49ers should have been a forced fumble in Giant’s territory that the 49ers recovered…it gets whistled dead prematurely. Call it forward progress. Giants keep it.
Two muffed punts.
Luck was on his side tonight. No doubt.
Eli is LUCKY to have the team and coach around him that he does. You think Eli can run the Colts offense? Think Eli can step behind the Dallas Cowboys Oline and come out with better stats than Romo? Think Eli could overcome the disaster that was the New England Patriots’ defense this year and still pull out enough W’s to make a Super Bowl?
Get real. He is good, but not that good. And he gets bailed out ALL THE TIME.
David Tyree. JPP. Hail marys to Hakeem Nicks.
That right there is enough to take away his Super Bowl ring, and enough to knock them out of the playoffs this year.
hate to say this. but I think the Giants are gonna win
they just beat the Packers IN LAMBEAU. and then the Niners IN CANDLESTICK. do you realize how tough that is? and the Pats got lucky Cundiff screwed up. *sighs.. according to my calculations, Giants are gonna win SB46
The Giants have sucked the luck out of the entire division. They have stolen all luck from the Redskins, Eagles and Cowboys and used it for themselves.
Am I the only one who is having thoughts that this SB match up between NY and NE is a set up? I mean remember that interview before the season started about if Eli was elite? And he said that he believed he was and that he was in Brady’s league? Something smells fishy here…and I am not watching this BS Superbowl either..Another lame matchup between two teams that have already played each other..but hopefully the Giants have used all of their luck up, and save some for us next year..the Boys are gonna need it.
It’s kind of crazy..how it all has ended up this way…one thing you cannot deny is that the Giants have had a lot of help from the striped shirts this season..Eli has also been so lucky it hurts..Throwing up wing and a prayer passes and having them completed for TDs..Must be nice having an O-Line that blocks for ya..Eli wouldn’t last a season under center in the wasteland that is the Cowboys line..
He took his chances on that pass and his receiver caught it. Before this year, I thought his first SB appearance was a fluke. He carried that offense the Giant’s offense this year, while playing behind a line that at times was as suspect as ours.. Against us, he almost single-handedly won the first game. In that game, Eli made the clutch throws he had to make. Romo? Well, you know…
I admit Eli has done a great job this season..but that pass into double coverage before the half against GB? That was luck..and it was also luck that they had the Packers literally hand a game to them by turning the ball over 5 times…As for Romo..give him a line that isn’t like a piece of balsa wood and then he’d be able to make the same throws, and even more accurately than Eli..Eli has the line and the D, Romo has neither..he’s kinda like Jeff George of his era..and that really hurts to say, but it’s true..
Eli's line had serious issues this year as well...
In the last few regular season games, including the one’s against us, the Giants went to a short passing attack because their coaches did not trust the line to protect Eli. Eli executed that offense quite well. As for the long pass, make a list of them - the one in the first SB to Tyree, the two in the first game against us (one to Nicks and one to Cruz), the one to Nicks in the Packers’s game… No one is that lucky… so he must be that good…
There were more Giants receivers than GB defenders
in the end zone on that pass. It was a designed playcall to beat the corners cheating the sidelines routes. It was a perfect pass and the receiver outfought the defender to get the ball. How was that more lucky than any single other pass completion to an elite receiver who is doubled? And saying the GIANTS of all teams are getting ref help is beyond ludicrous. Giants opponents have been called for ONE offensive holding call in three playoff games. The Niners weren’t called for a single penalty besides delay of game, offsides, or Vernon Davis being a nipplehead. Not a single judgement penalty went against the Niners. If you still think the Giants get help I have a video clip of Greg Jennings and another of Osi hitting Rodgers to show you.
And, until today, I thought the first SB was a fluke. One more point about that pass to Nicks in the GB game. The spin on that ball was unreal. If it had been one of Romo’s wobblers, it would have easily missed its mark.
Yeah, I wouldn’t go that far..but I do have a really good feeling about next season though..I guarantee everyone is going to write Dallas off, and hand the division to Giants…If Jerry can actually put together a line that won’t get Romo put in a body bag we have a chance..If David Decastro falls to us at 14, it will help ease both Tony’s pain and ours too…I love seeing Romo make plays out of nothing, but I would rather see #9 have a clean pocket to use that extra fast release to it’s full advantadge. Now that defense, on the other hand, needs a serious facelift for it to look anything close to a playoff D.
Frank Reich was over the line of scrimmage on his TD pass and Leon Lett should have had the TD that Tasker knocked through the end zone. We would have had the Super Bowl Record for most points (SF 55).
And its the 2007 nightmare all over again.. N like last time we had a chance to stop them from making it to indy… And like 2007 we failed.. If only we could have won.. This is a very bitter pill to swollow… I hate new england and I really hate the giants with all I am.. What a horrible sb for me.. Guess go pats… But still to think we culd have stop this from happining but we culdent win just 1 game against them..
Although truth be told I don’t think they make it out of regulation without Kyle Williams screwing it all up.
I feel bad for the guy. He played for ASU in college. In his senior game, they played the U of A and he had a great game, but late in the 4th with the score tied he fumbled a punt and Arizona recovered, winning the game on the resulting field goal.
These teams were essentially even. The defenses were great in the second half, the punters were great too, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Eli get hit so many times.
Its a shame the 49ers lost in that way, they are actually a fun team to watch. Maybe its my giants hatred, but I was rooting for SF today.
The whole cowboys org was watching this game and saw what they could have prevented. Use it as fuel for next year.. I swear dallas needs a wake up call. Hopefully next year can be the start of the cowboys finally getting back to the cowboys of old.. Well scatch that hopefully they can be the new cowboys n have the sucess of the 90’s cowboys.
Yeah, the Giants played good enough to win. Inspiring D from both sides, sure...
…but the ball certainly bounced in the Giants’ favor today. No worries, there’s a certain amount of luck in any football game.
Two muffed punts, and two should-have-been-interceptions thrown by Eli Manning. Were they the difference in the game? No one knows. But those 4 plays were lucky for the Gmen.
Coughlin said himself something to the effect of “Neither team was seemingly putting itself in a position to win”
think the 49ers defense is going to be that good next year. They lived off turnovers this year and gave up a lot of yards to good QBs. Their offense won’t be good either until they get a new QB.
watching 2 d-bags fight. Who do you root for? You hope maybe they both knock the sh#t out of each other, and both lose somehow. Can’t believe it’s the freaking Giants and Pats again…
whta a shame for the Niners..2 turnovers killed them the Giants did nothing
on offense in the 2nd half..and then the turnover that wasn’t…forward progress my @$$, THAT was a fumble. Go Pats or the off season will be unbearable.
Go 49ers
Only because the Giants are the other option. And I need at least 1 right pick this week.

Kevin L - January 22, 2012
and they are idiots and you shouldn't talk to them.
thebigham - January 22, 2012
Are you seriously suggesting
That you believe Alex Smith is a better quarterback than Tony Romo – because Niner fans told you so?
KeyOfZ - January 22, 2012 via mobile
HELL NO!!!
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Just making sure.
That would seem very inconsistent with what I’ve seen from you before. Forgive the insinuation, my bad.
And besides that – it just isn’t true.
KeyOfZ - January 22, 2012 via mobile
There's a debate? Really?
Xfactor26 - January 22, 2012
lol
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
how so?
thebigham - January 22, 2012
those db's quit fast
beWARE94 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
that's 15 dumbass
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
After picking in the top 10 (hell, the top 5) the better part of the decade, the Niners should be pretty good.
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Same route that Delanie Walker beat Spencer on
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
NO. FUN. LEAGUE.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
C'mon...if you get to the end zone...act like you've been there before.
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
that was a bs penalty, c'mon!
those rules are so unnecessary
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
play by the rules
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
The 49ers have one legit recieving threat which is Vernon Davis. Should probably cover him.
BrickTop - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Michael Crabtree, and Delanie Walker are under rated
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
What about Crabtree.
Xfactor26 - January 22, 2012
Bust? or "Bust-like"?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
crabtree is great
not a lot of passing in SF the last few years. He also battled a foot injury throughout his career
redraider21 - January 22, 2012
You didn't see all his drops last week?
BrickTop - January 22, 2012 via mobile
I did and saw him throughout his collegiate career
one bad game and his qb is alex smith
redraider21 - January 22, 2012
I see.
You make good points.
BrickTop - January 22, 2012 via mobile
I am also a texas tech homer
redraider21 - January 22, 2012
that wasn't the only game in his career that Crabtree had a case of the dropsies.
i don’t care who your qb is, if he gets you the ball, it hits you in the hands, and you don’t catch it – it’s still your fault.
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
go 9ers
Even though I dislike Harbaugh. I like (cough) Coughlin though.
letsgtld - January 22, 2012 via mobile
The difference between Alex Smith and Tony Romo
49ers have a substantially better defense
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012

DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
Wow. He clearly stepped out of bounds.
BrickTop - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Ed Herculeus and his long winded explanations. Anything for more camera time.
slimbig - January 22, 2012
Vernon Davis.
I want one of those.
Carl Shelton (GloryDayz88) - January 22, 2012
Jason. Witten.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
and he's smarter
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
You got a better one of those...his name is Witten...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012

CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012

Xfactor26 - January 22, 2012
Go. Meteor.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
why is that a penalty on davis but its not when the packers jump into the stands after every play?
DavidLaFleur - January 22, 2012
Exactly.
If the leap is allowed, everything’s fair game. Just don’t let them score.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
There it is.
The leap is Grandfather exemption’d
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
thats a bunch of crap. grandfathering in a celebration…im really about to stop caring about the nfl
DavidLaFleur - January 22, 2012
Just don’t let them score, if they burn you, it’s fair game.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
what are you even talking about
DavidLaFleur - January 22, 2012
Celebrations
You want to stop them from doing that, DO. NOT. LET. THEM. SCORE.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Sorry guy, im not playing in the nfl. Not anything i can do about it. i personally dont like the celebration but as far as making them penaltys i dont know if i even agree with that. HOWEVER if you do have a penalty in, enforce it for everybody.
DavidLaFleur - January 22, 2012
So I ended up Betting against the 9ers ......
salas88 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
WHAT??
Who told you to do that???
dunkman - January 22, 2012
Prepare to cash in.
Mikellie - January 22, 2012
Alex Smith can't score with the Giants...the key is the Giant's defense...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
So far this post-season has taught me
Dallas needs to draft:
1) Guard
2) NT
3) OLB
4) DBs
5) TE to make defenses pay for taking away Wittenberg
6) Center
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Damn IPAD it's Witten
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
i like wittenberg.
DavidLaFleur - January 22, 2012

Improve both lines for the Cowboys and you'll see marked improvement...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
And a not dead Romo.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Romo had a 102+ QB rating with a sh*tty line...what could he do with a competent one?
…also a consistent pass rush would do wonders for the secondary…
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Yep.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
+9
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
103+
Mikellie - January 22, 2012
I was thinking about that earlier today.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
The thing about the Niners is that they play good fundamental football...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Yup
Run the ball .. check
Play great defense .. check
Beef up front .. check
salas88 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Protect the football...check; force turnovers...check
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
They don't necessarily play great...they just don't play badly...they let other teams make the mistakes...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Oh NOW Nicks goes down……
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
We have no hard hitters. We're a softy Neiman Marcus bunch
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Look at the way 25 makes a legitimate tackling attempt at Hynoski...
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
I chuckled when I read Roger Craig predicted a Niners dynasty...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
defensively, they look really good
I think we will see their offense is a fluke. on the other hand, they have tons of young OL talent that may pan out soon.
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
Exactly...as much as Alex Smith is getting his @ss kissed...he's JAG...and their receiving corp is just OK...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
we could of had Hynoski, but NOOOOOOOOOOO
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
Hynoski hasn't been anything special
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
better than the jag we drafted
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
We signed Fiametta
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
because our draft pick couldn't cut it, Hynoski is starting his rookie year as an UFA
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012

CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Last one I can remember is 07. F*ckin Eli…..
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
2007
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
Until the second Eagles game
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Was the line good...or was it all Romo? I'm thinking Romo.
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
At least that line gave Romo a chance to be Romo.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
No, Romo took a lot of risky throws that paid off to make the line look good.
This year, he finally admitted what he has been doing that all along…trying to make up for the short comings of others…and compounding the problems…how good would Romo be if he was allowed to play within himself?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Oh that’s easy, He’ll be what they called an “Elite QB”.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Guard and Center...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Wait, I’m confused now.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
No confusion...improve the interior of the Dallas O Line...i.e. no more in your face pressure on Romo...
…and the Dallas O will be impossible to stop…
Improve Spencer’s position…and the D will look much better…
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
So basically, the answer to your question is still Epic Romo.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Epic Romo?
If you’re referring to the fact that Romo is still the best chance to go to the Superbowl? Then, yes. The strength of the Cowboys is their Offense…and the reason their O has been so good in the past 5-6 years is Romo.
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Yes he’s still our best chance.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Wait he admitted that. Wow, I knew he was doing that. That's a Ballsy thing to do.
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Captain Cajones…..
Kevin L - January 22, 2012

CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Doesn't have to.
He’ll just have to Dilfer it.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
True, but are you saying the Niners D is as good as the Raven's 2000 D?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
I’m saying that the Defense is the reason they’ll win this.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
So if Eli and co scores just like that, they’ll probably win.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Well, if they win it will be beacause of the Defense...I just think the Giants Offense is playing at a higher level...
…I hate to write this…but Eli has been playing at a much higher level…
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
He had that big TD pass to davis

And basically act as your QB coach you will get pretty good
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
That would help.

Look what big brother has done for Andrew Luck's college career.
He has attended and worked at Payton’s QB camp since high school every year.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
I didn't know that.
Rena - January 22, 2012
Yes, Peyton runs a QB camp for high school and college QB's every summer
Luck has attended and been a counselor for the last 7 or 8 years.

Its funny that you say that about him helping Eli this year
I 100% believe that. I was telling a friend of mine that and he told me i was just being an Eli hater. I really wasn’t. It just makes too much sense. I’m sure they were watching film together, going over game plans, etc….

not this time.
No beer tonight. I mean, of course I have beer. Just choosing not to drink any tonight.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
blasphemy
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Nice. Dumb Face goes down. That makes me happy.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
+10
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
ELI sacked. YES!
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Is the reason the Niners are in the Championship game because Harbaugh is that good or that Singletary sucked that bad?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
The latter.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Both
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
how about the guys added in between
Bowman and Rogers and Whitner took that D to another level.
Offensively, the OL is getting better with the young promising rookies, but Harbaugh probably deserves credit there
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
It's also pretty helpful to have 6 easy games every year...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
the pats won 3 championships that way
beWARE94 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
they beat the Giants and Eagles...
and pounded the Steelers, which hardly anyone does.
That D is legit.
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
Harbaugh kept the defense the same, but really helped develop the offense
Under Nolan and Sing it was Gore running dives on first and second down, and get pissed at Alex when he couldn’t bail em out on 3rd an long. Harbaugh understood that QB needs to get in rhythm early so he can get confidence.
Defensive minded meat heads like Nolan and Sing tried to recreate the 1985 Bears and 2000 Ravens.
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Harbaugh added some serious talent to that D
Again, Bowman and Rogers are nothing to scoff at. Rogers has been an elite corner this year and Bowman looks real good
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
I'm not disagreeing
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
I wouldn't call Rodgers elite...let's not go crazy here...he's had a great year...but "elite"? No.
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
yeah no way elite
thebigham - January 22, 2012
It’s a word that’s been tossed around.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
foolishly then
thebigham - January 22, 2012
this year he was
check KC Joyner
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
I credit him for making Smith a not lost cause.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
agreed
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
Coaching makes a difference..."belie dat"...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Harbaugh’s probably the only guy that had the confidence to say Alex get out there.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
He honestly didn't have a choice...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
But still, he did though.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
that offense is only going to get worst next year unless they do some major moving.
Smith won’t get better, if anything he’ll regress back.
Gore another year older and more beat down..
WRs… they have those?
thebigham - January 22, 2012
They’ll build on Crabtree, plus Smith is the QB.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Crabtree? Seriously?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Who else do they have beside Vernon?
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Uhh...I think they need to draft someone...I wouldn't bet all my marbles in Crabtree...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
That works too.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
um like I said they need some major help
thebigham - January 22, 2012
Yep/
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
I concur...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
I will and do "believe dat"
but i will under no circumstances what so ever “belie dat”. Aint gonna happen. I refuse.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
I'm calling it right now
that it won’t last into next year
NYHorn - January 22, 2012
Well obviously.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Of course they show that…..
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Eli int
please
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
alex smith is too eager to take off
redraider21 - January 22, 2012
Yeah
he had space to throw just by stepping up. Bad move to take off.
dunkman - January 22, 2012
Jimmy's hair might get wet. The hairspray might come out.
Rena - January 22, 2012
Hairspray?
That is the same varnish they use on outside decks in Florida
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
LOL
Rena - January 22, 2012
Cruz is a nice guy! stop hating!
when I met him he gave me props for my Witten jersey
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - January 22, 2012
He’s one of those that I have to because of the Jersey, that’s it.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
This 49ers teams reminds me of the 2002 Bucs
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Its like Cruz is the only guy whose shoes have traction.
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
CRUUUUUZ
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - January 22, 2012
Manning must be getting
5 seconds to throw. Must be nice…
dunkman - January 22, 2012
wet field
Giants aren’t pressuring smith much either
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
But also good pass protection
just like the last four games they played.
dunkman - January 22, 2012
the last 4
at least 3 were incompetent pass rushes (Jets, Cowboys, Packers).
Both Ds are handicapped by the wet field right now. They are normally flying around the qb.
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
How come every team can make adjustments to a beat up line to protect their QB, but we can't?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
we have all the time every year.
JG is a master at calling plays to compensate. Our line is that bad
thebigham - January 22, 2012
No...JG stayed to "loyal" to Houck...for too long...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
2012
Cowboys 13-3
Skins 10-6 (if they get a QB like RG3 or Flynn)
Giants 9-7
Eagles 6-10
thebigham - January 22, 2012
you're way off
Cowboys go AT LEAST 14-2
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Smoking some peyote are we ham?
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
nope, just watch
thebigham - January 22, 2012
19—0, Dallas baby!
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
the oline coach didn't have anything to do with it
just a lack of talent in my opinion. Same thing with Dave Campo. I don’t care if Vince Lombardi was the secondary coach. Our secondary would have still sucked.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
I'm going to respectfully disagree here...I'm not saying there is great talent...just saying we din't adjust well.
Go watch the JG introduction of Callahan…get saying how Callahan will improve run blocking…
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
i get your point
i just dont think you can turn a turd into gold. But, then again, i am watching the flippin 49ers in the NFC Championship.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Rest my case...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
but SF wasn't void of talent.
They have 3 first round picks on the oline.
Staley, Davis, Iupati,
Then they have 1st rounder vernon Davis, Crabtree, and Smith. Not to mention the defense that has 1st rounds like Rogers, Whitner, Willis, Justin Smith, that rookie from Mizzu who’s name i cant think of right now.
Point is, they have tons of talent. Our oline doesnt and our secondary doesn’t
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Yup.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
"get"=kept
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
He tried to find someone last off season when he took over as HC.
Like he tried to find a OL assistant.
Rena - January 22, 2012
Wes Phillips?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Nah, they tried a couple of outside guys.
Trying to remember if 1 was Bruce Smith?
Rena - January 22, 2012
bad bad pass by Eli there
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
where the hell is the pass rush?
redraider21 - January 22, 2012
Jesus cruz
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Pretty much.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
VICTOR
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - January 22, 2012
i really freakin hate
that every person with a “u” or an “OO” in there name gets there name chanted like its original or something.
Cruuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzzzzz or Coooooooooley. Just sick of it.
It should have died with Mooooooooosssssseeeeeeeeeee.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
There will always and forever be just one Moose
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
They broke the mold after him.
Remember those huge shoulder pads he had?
Rena - January 22, 2012
His shoulders were wider than mine when I was wearing shoulder pads and he did not have any on
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
WOW, that is big, no wonder.
I always thought they made them over sized to intimidate or something.
Rena - January 22, 2012
Well you can see mine in my profile pic
I was not the most intimidating player in college
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
I had never looked up your profile.
Retired military huh, maybe you are close to my age. LOL, I had assumed for no good reason in particular that you were probably younger than me.
Rena - January 22, 2012
careful BD
she’s a fed. And she’s “packin”
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
...meat
thebigham - January 22, 2012
Ok, I am not touching that. :P
Rena - January 22, 2012
you're no fun
booooooooooooo
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
I haven't been drinking either.
Rena - January 22, 2012
now that deserves a really big
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
THATS RIGHT!!! ALL CAPS BABY!!!
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
I tried to get her to interview for an assistant position.
Still need to talk with bigham once I am back home
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
If I didn't have a good govt job I would have jumped on it.
Kinda regret not going for it, but I can’t toss away a good paying job with top benefits.
Rena - January 22, 2012
There's that whole clumsy "retirement" thing.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Yeah. $60k a year, 3 weeks vacation, 2 weeks sick a year.
All the insurance, retirement accounts, pension…Being a adult sucks sometimes.
Rena - January 22, 2012
being an adult is totally overrated
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
I agree.
I was sledding with my 4 year old today, and I soooooo wanted to be that age again.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Yeah, I can beat the salary and probably insurance
Vacatiion and sick time have to be taken in 1 hour increments.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
Probably when you are stacking out hotels? :)
Rena - January 22, 2012
Ah Yes, draft prospects be warned
When you attend these bowl games and the combines. There are 32 NFL teams who employ a ton of people to stake out your hotel and every night spot in town.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
I volunteet to watch the night spots
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
hahaha
volunteet.
how about volunteer
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Did you already hit the night spot
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
Who do they use?
Private eyes? Retired cops?
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
They use a combonation of scouts, off duty and retired police and PI's.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
was moose the first?
As a cowboy fan I always believed he was but wasn’t sure if that was just my cowboy bias. I’m wondering if some of the older fans remember that happening with any other player in the nfl before moose.
beWARE94 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
I dont remember anyone else
but it may be just because I wasn’t paying attention. My football world pretty much revolved around the Cowboys.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
In my opinion Moose was the first
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
An O line and a freaking WR that catches everything. HATE.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Great foot work, Eli.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Why the
f do teams not cover V cruz???
TheCowboyWay - January 22, 2012
It's the same reason teams don't cover Laurent Robinson in the end zone...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Because then Dumb Face will stand back there for an hour and wait for Nicks to come free.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
This too...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Hahahaha
dunkman - January 22, 2012
Victor Cruz is crushing it.
Is anyone else baffled by every team’s inability to cover him?
Although, the Niners are attempting to match Rogers up on Cruz, so I can’t say I’m surprised by his production so far.
KeyOfZ - January 22, 2012 via mobile
he probably deserves some credit
Rogers was one of the best 3 cbs in the nfc this year.
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
Somebody better get that man an IV
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
How much are they going to complain about Eli not knowing he was out of time outs.
Now the FG team was running out while Eli needed to stop the clock.
Rena - January 22, 2012
I was stirring soup. What happened?
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Eli tried to call a time out and they didn't have any. Delay of game penalty.
Then after the next play the FG team started running out on the field to try and kick fast before he got the snap to spike the ball.
Rena - January 22, 2012
Oh, brother. I'm sure we won't hear a peep about how stupid he is.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Eli isn't Romo, So I think he's safe from the backlash...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Yup.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
where is cundiff when you need him?
redraider21 - January 22, 2012
I'd settle for Suisham or Jose Cortez blowing it
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Cortez
only if we get to see Larry Allen drag him off the field by his facemask.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Lol
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
I'll admit that although Cruz is a beast, no one saw this coming
He was the #2 his senior year, the #1 is a WR on the Chiefs with 1 catch all year.
NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - January 22, 2012
Yeah, him I'll give it up for. As much as it makes me sick.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
What gives me hope is that Callahan had choices...yet he comes to our team...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
This game is going as expected. Eli is just too damn good. I gotta lot of 49er pals, so I hope the
Giants win.
CowboyMan - January 22, 2012
They can't give Eli all day to throw
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
The Gian't run game has taken a Giant step back...seriously? 1 yard to go?...and you don't get it?
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Yup
49ers D does that to everyone
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
they were ranked dead last in the league pretty much all year
SF run defense ranked 1st
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Not this year...
it hasn’t been dependent.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
This SW Airlines commercial is hilarious
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
On a side note...I'm seriously considering getting a Prius...50mpg is too tempting at these gas prices...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Had a friend that got one 4 years ago, she loved it.
Rena - January 22, 2012
Never thought I would ever consider one, but 50mpg...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
I wish I lived in a city
Cars are overrated! SUVs and leasing and the need to get a new car payment every 3 years is helping to kill(ed) America
thebigham - January 22, 2012
Hey, I love my SUV.
Course it is a baby one. Had to get rid of my pickup for work. ./cry
But I tend to keep mine for 5 or 6 years.
Rena - January 22, 2012
I won't get started on the hunks of steel severely inefficient things we call cars. haha
thebigham - January 22, 2012
Actually my baby SUV gets better gas mileage than my Ranger did. Quite a bit better.
Rena - January 22, 2012
You still gotta have transportation...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Who says you have to buy (or lease) a car every 3 years?
I bought my 1987 mustang used in 1989 and have had it ever since.
fs65 - January 22, 2012
Thank you.
2002 dodge Ram, I’ll drive forever. Even though I hate it.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
most people do where i live.
you are the exception easily.
thebigham - January 23, 2012
Meh, yugos got more than that and that was nearly 25 years ago
and they were dirt cheap.
They are nice on the interior though, the outside is ugly as hell.
Nick Castillo - January 22, 2012
Yugos were death traps...Prius, not so much...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
you got me there
Nick Castillo - January 22, 2012
what are those tiny ass little bitty cars that i see from time to time?
They look like they have been cut in half. If you ever got in an accident in one of those things you would die for sure.
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Smart Cars.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
I love my VW TDI ... diesel
GalTex - January 22, 2012
Wtf was Alex doing?
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
jumping?
Not sure why
beWARE94 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
He's forgetting that he's playing a defense better than the one the Saints had...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Michael Crabtree blows.
Sorry to you Red Raiders out there.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Giants are going to win this thing...
…by a couple of touchdowns or more before this thing is through.

Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
Later ham
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Can't wait for June 1st.
See you T-Old
Mikellie - January 22, 2012
Kendall Hunter will supplant Gore as starting RB in 2012
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Lol yea right
Hunter is not a full time NFL back… He’s a situational player… That would be a huge mistake
drobe86 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
this game reminds me of rockem sockem robots
TARHEEL PAUL - January 22, 2012
Wow so lucky.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Ugh, ok, Ham has reminded me that it is getting late.
I need to go to bed also. Night guys. I won’t say be good. :P
Rena - January 22, 2012
Good night
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
LOL. 'Night.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Nite cake lady
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Yeah, Smith, you ain't Romo. Tony would have completed that.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Yes he would've
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
To be fair to Alex Smith their wide receivers suck
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
In reality Romo makes our receivers look better that they are...look what he did for Robinson...
CaliFanInTx - January 22, 2012
Yup
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Tuck is a moron hahaha aha
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
The Giants are freaking stupid
both of these teams are playing really dumb ball
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
Ok ladies,
Its pick 6 time.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Cruz is MVP of the game
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
brandon Jacobs is so soft.
I don’t understand how he gets shoestringed all the time.
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Shoestrung?
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
tackled at the feet
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
I was just trying to find the right tense :)
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
IF Eli throws that better
Jacobs becomes a truck barreling down on a cb.
foyesboys - January 22, 2012
Dez Bryant > Michael Crabtree
salas88 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Oh no contest.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Yeah thats an absolute.
Crabtree is a bust IMO
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Wasnt Crab the next big thing???
salas88 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
The next Calvin Johnson they say
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
I was off that boat when he held out.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
And that is why the 40 is important
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
also why you should be wary of WR's playing in spread offenses
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
Exactly..
salas88 - January 22, 2012 via mobile
Yup
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Dez Bryant > 80% of receivers in this league.

hard to turn when you can’t stop.

beWARE94 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app
Is Vernon Davis really...
…that fast. He looks like a giant Victor Cruz. pun intended
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Did you not see his combine in '06?
The guy dominated in Indianapolis. He is a freak.
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
I didn't. I remember reading about it, don't remember the specifics tho.
He is blowing by DB’s like they’re standing still. And that first TD he straight up outran every DB on the field. That’s just sick-nasty
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
4.38 40, 33 reps on the bench, 42 vertical
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=10927&draftyear=2006&genpos=

Just read that again, myself.
That’s just redonkulous
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012

Isnt he 4.4 on the 40??

Ir realy took Witten and Gonzales to change the game.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012

now we’re seeing these athletic monsters coming around, and the nfl seems to have no idea how to cover some of these guys.

It seems like a marked change NFL wide
Regarding holding calls on the line. It seems that it has become blatant, that holding calls just don’t happen this year
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
NFL is the new NBA
No call that might slow down the offense even if the rules exist. (Traveling -what is that?)
sixrings09 - January 22, 2012
Carry-over? Palming? What are they?

Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012
Thats something you can say about the Harbaugh brothers character
They will be one of the first on the field for a player of theirs.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
the way it should be
I never got the term “player’s coach.” I mean, I understand what is meant. I just don’t get the concept. Shouldn’t all coaches be “player’s coaches”?
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
I think as a coach, you have to be demanding and at times tough
But you also need to have heart and care for your players. The one thing I have found is that players want honesty from coaches. And on top of it all, I think our new secondary coach put it this week. He did not care if a coach yelled at him, but give him answers and specifics on what to correct.
Birddog26 - January 22, 2012
You're absolutely correct. I should have written:
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012

jakezze01 - January 22, 2012

Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
Here's my Chia imitation of being Anti-Romo
I’m tired of excuses. I want a Bus Driver QB. I want a QB from Division 1 from the Sec. I’m watching ESPN’s Year of the QB to see how Auburn and Wisconsin develop QBs, we need a new QB. I’m tired of Romo. I’m done talkin about him. I don’t want to hear anything about stats. Flacco doesn’t need stats he just wins.
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
lol
Nick Castillo - January 22, 2012
Here's McLovin9 for you
How’s Terry going to defend Romo today? Seriously, how can you still believe in him.

jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
He’s only like that when Romo does screw the pooch, though.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
McLovin 9 and Mensa Immitation
See that Alex Smith scramble, he’s clutch. Romo would just turn it over. Go ahead and defend him Terry.
How can you people believe in him. 6 years is plenty of time.

You're killing it LOL
Nickthegrip - January 22, 2012

An early 2012 apocalypse
ChaoticZen - January 22, 2012
I sort of stop caring after the season ends
It’s either this or Downton Abbey.
I root for a good game and for the winner to make the Cowboys look good somehow. Also, the more the Giants win, the lower their draft pick is… and I believe the harder their following schedule is.

DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
49ers

Giants….. not so much
Nick Castillo - January 22, 2012
They’ve been hot though, I’ll give Eli that.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
GB or NO would have the best chance against NE
DIRE WOLF - January 22, 2012
of course, but
as it is, GB is undoubtably the best in NFC with the saints/49ers dueling it out for #2
Nick Castillo - January 22, 2012
I'm not quite following your logic
The best team in the NFL is the one who wins the superbowl.
The best team in a conference is the conference champion.
1. Giants
2. 49ers
4 (tie) Saints, Packers
6 (tie) Falcons, Lions
Simms-McConkey - January 23, 2012
How about this logic
The best team doesn’t always win. Just look at the AZ game and the first NYG game. We had those games won, just like Baltimore had their game won. One play doesn’t make the winning team the best.
Mikellie - January 23, 2012
???
the best team DOES always win … that’s what makes them the better team!

Kiicking team on sides, recovers it, and kicks a fg
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
i thought of that.
but I think the other team would still be granted a possession, since they never technically had possession of the ball
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Nope.
Rohpuri - January 22, 2012
hmm
Raise an interesting point, however the way it reads is that each team is guaranteed a possession… I do not believe that the kickoff counts as a possession… tho I could be wrong
TheCowboyWay - January 22, 2012
I've had the rule explained to me, you can defeat it with onside kick

Our World Class Top 5 6th year starter gets to watch the better QB lead his NFC team to the SB AGAIN this year… Sad that so many folks put so much faith in a guy who’d rather vacation in Mexico with his honey than get prepped for a playoff game. Jimbohts - January 22, 2012
Oh so it was Bud light!!!! My mistake.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
If anyone is counting...
It is 2 to 0, number of SB appearances by Eli and Romo respectively.
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Tell Dan Marino that that's how you measure a QB.
Then duck. Seriously, the man has a wicked temper
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
How Many
SBs did that Marino guy win? Well, at least he got to play in one.
Jimbohts - January 22, 2012
exactly.
My point was that neither SB wins, nor SB appearances necessarily matter when it comes to grading a QB’s performance.
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
They do when it comes to voting for the HOF...
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Wrong.
The only restriction is that a player and coach must have been retired at least five years before he can be considered. There are plenty of nominees who have never been in nor won a Super Bowl.
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
And, most of those nominees were players...
who were clearly one of the best to every play at that position. Like DWare? Without a SB win, I could see him being elected. Are you saying that Romo is that good?
LDVFootball - January 23, 2012
Definitely. Just look at the stats.
He’s one of the top 5 of all time in QB rating. His numbers will be better than Marino’s when he’s done and Marino made it.
Mikellie - January 23, 2012
Dan Marino, who?
(Yeah, just what I thought.)
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
LOL
If you are disregarding Dan Marino as one of the greatest QB’s to ever play the game, I don’t know what else to say to you. Actually, I have nothing to say bc you obviously don’t know a thing about football, and even less about QB play
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
I'm not disregarding Marinos's stats...
but that’s all he is has to show for his career… Stats are not forever, as Brees showed this year by surpassing one of Marino’s records… In any case, Marino played in a SB… So, what does he have in common with Romo?
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
That record stood for 27 years, but you're probably right. There's nothing special about that.
My point, which you obviously don’t understand, is that Super Bowl appearances don’t necessarily mean ANYTHING when it comes to grading a QB’s performance. You wrote:
I’m saying the comparison means absolutely nothing, and doesn’t make sense of anything.
As it pertains to Marino, how can you say stats aren’t forever? He is in the Hall of Fame because of those stats. He is still relevant in the “Who was the best ever?” conversation because of those stats.
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
So what? This is all too abstract.
LDVFootball - January 23, 2012
Hellllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooo? McFlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?
My whole point is your statement says nothing. It goes nowhere. There is no point to this statement:
This is not enough to definitively say Eli Manning is a better Quarterback than Tony Romo.
I would agree had you made a statement along the lines of:
The HOF has absolutely nothing to do with your comparison.
Bringing up Dan Marino in this argument is completely relevant considering he is widely regarded as one of the best QB’s to ever play the game, despite his lack of Super Bowl wins and appearances.
jakezze01 - January 23, 2012
It takes a total team effort to win a Super Bowl.
The QB is not the only guy playing. Every player can only be judged on numbers…how else would you grade them? You can’t just judge QB’s on Super Bowl appearances when it takes 23 other guys to do their jobs just as well.
Mikellie - January 23, 2012
Yep, Romo-faith is never worth it in the end... that's why I've joined the McGee bandwagon
I don’t remember feeling that way about Danny White…
scraig - January 22, 2012
Apparently, he did though.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Romo is no Danny White...
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012

beWARE94 - January 22, 2012 via iPhone app

Jimbohts - January 22, 2012
Yes it is Jimbohts
Yes it is.
NYHorn - January 22, 2012
Actually what's hilarious is your point proves the point
Since you say Romo is better than Eli, or is comparable, what is the difference between these two teams?
Hmm. Perhaps comparable talent. Ah nevermind. I forgot you were a troll

What's sad is someone who comes on a Cowboy's blog...
…only when there’s something to b*tch about. And then repeating the same tired nonsense over and over. You’re a pathetic person. I don’t need to meet you to have my mind made up about that
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
LOL @ Jake.
you don’t get it . You never will. Dallas didn’t play today. We aren’t close to either of these teams.
football mensa - January 22, 2012
I would love to take a poll of BtB'ers, asking them who "gets it" more...me or you?
Up for it?
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Take one....like i'm gonna care............LMAO
football mensa - January 22, 2012
Btw, we beat the 49ers...
…in spite of Romo breaking a rib and puncturing a lung during the game. You probably forgot about this because it doesn’t fit your agenda. We played the Gmen very close in two games this year. You obviously (conveniently) forgot about that as well.
You are no “fan” I would watch a game with.
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Gosh
That was really mean. I may never recover. Well, maybe a couple 6s of Bud Light would do it.
Jimbohts - January 22, 2012
wow this will be the second game i root hard for Tom Brady
good thing there is no Tyree and Plaxico to make my head hurt for a week
and to think all dallas had to do is hold on to a 12 point lead with 3 minutes

jake I wish Dallas had played tonite. Problem is they just aren't good enough....Why is it hard for you to give the Gmen some credit ?
football mensa - January 22, 2012
I’ll give them credit, but they really have been quite lucky this year.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
They capitalize on other teams mistakes....
something to be said for that.
football mensa - January 22, 2012
Wasn't it against the Giants...
that our D couldn’t even make a fumble recovery?
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Yup.

It's not hard at all. The difference between you and I is that I give them credit without sounding like a slighted adolescent

Fact is Dallas just isn’t as good . Sorry brah. Nothing you can do.

NUHuskyCowboyMinutemanCeltic - January 22, 2012
Now that is funniest thing I've heard yet.
Two of your teams are in the Northeast so I don’t know what you are talking about anyhow.

jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Don't forget that LDV dude. Apparently, no one can defend Romo because Dumb
Face got lucky tonight.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
He has been pretty good this year. I hope he regresses to the Eli we know and love to laugh at.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
He's been fine, but I don't buy elite. I'm still waiting to hear from LDV dude how
anything Dumb Face does makes Romo indefensible . Or maybe it’s too stupid a premise to defend, since he’s declined.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
The only stupid thing here is...
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
You sure about that? I'm pretty sure I'm not the one making nonsensical
assertions here. Still waiting to find out how Dumb Face getting lucky tonight equates to Romo being indefensible.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
BTW, don't you need a shower after agreeing with a troll like Jimbohts?
Gawd, I’d be embarrassed to be seen doing that.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
lololol
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
I don't believe in elites anymore.
It’s been thrown around way too much.
Kevin L - January 22, 2012
Agreed. Given the way this post-season has gone, "elite" is a very fluid
notion.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
How many times
did he throw passes that bounced off 49er defenders hands? Haha oh man. ELI!!
BrickTop - January 22, 2012 via mobile
You're just upset...

LDVFootball - January 22, 2012

no matter what he does, and then argue that Romo is somehow indefensible, and I’m silly? I’m not upset. I’m waiting.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Oh, yeah you are...
You are upset all right… It was the first clue I had that you weren’t a boy… Boys don’t get emotional like you do… Boys also know a lot more about football…
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Dude, you've got issues.
And now you have a flag.

LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Thanks, fs. No worries. He's being weak, and he knows it.
Fernie67 - January 22, 2012
Keep telling yourself that Eli is just lucky...
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Tell me how many first round busts there have been in the history of the NFL; don't worry, I'll wait.
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
Apparently, Eli is not one of them...
So what is your point?
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
My point is you are absolutely wrong to put so much faith in your "abilty" to pick out winners, no matter how many pee wee games you've watched.
Her point was that Eli benefited from his defense who played like champions, and a 49er defense that squandered away opportunity.
Clear things up for ya?
jakezze01 - January 23, 2012
LDVFootball - January 23, 2012
That right there is enough to take away his Super Bowl ring, and enough to knock them out of the playoffs this year.
jakezze01 - January 23, 2012
No reply.
Guess that shut him up. Truth hurts sometimes.
Mikellie - January 23, 2012

ratware - January 22, 2012
I've got this figured out
The Giants have sucked the luck out of the entire division. They have stolen all luck from the Redskins, Eagles and Cowboys and used it for themselves.
Benthere - January 22, 2012
talk all the luck you want truth is those mtf'ers are in again while we make excuses for mr jerry
ratware - January 22, 2012
Crazy talk here..
RomoCop - January 22, 2012
How many people were involved in this conspiracy?
And, how did the league buy off Jerry?
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
Just kidding..
RomoCop - January 22, 2012
I don't think Eli is lucky at all.
Romo? Well, you know…
LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
I admit Eli has done a great job this season..but that pass into double coverage before the half against GB? That was luck..and it was also luck that they had the Packers literally hand a game to them by turning the ball over 5 times…As for Romo..give him a line that isn’t like a piece of balsa wood and then he’d be able to make the same throws, and even more accurately than Eli..Eli has the line and the D, Romo has neither..he’s kinda like Jeff George of his era..and that really hurts to say, but it’s true..
RomoCop - January 22, 2012
Eli's line had serious issues this year as well...
In the last few regular season games, including the one’s against us, the Giants went to a short passing attack because their coaches did not trust the line to protect Eli. Eli executed that offense quite well. As for the long pass, make a list of them
-the one in the first SB to Tyree, the two in the first game against us (one to Nicks and one to Cruz), the one to Nicks in the Packers’s game… No one is that lucky… so he must be that good…LDVFootball - January 22, 2012
When Romo, starts for his third different team, he will be Jeff George.
…until then, he is Danny White with fewer playoff wins.
Dooud - January 22, 2012
If you still think the Giants get help I have a video clip of Greg Jennings and another of Osi hitting Rodgers to show you.
bigbluethruandthru - January 22, 2012
Heck, I am a believer now...
And, until today, I thought the first SB was a fluke. One more point about that pass to Nicks in the GB game. The spin on that ball was unreal. If it had been one of Romo’s wobblers, it would have easily missed its mark.
LDVFootball - January 23, 2012

Mikellie - January 22, 2012
RomoCop - January 22, 2012
I think the Eagles will be the favorite to win the div.....reason being that most teams have

Congrats to the Giants

Rohpuri - January 22, 2012 via mobile
I would like to humbly request
What exactly luck had to do with a game the Giants had to fight till the very end for?
Luck did not punch the ball out of the Niners’ return man’s hand, Jacquian Williams did that.
Luck did not have him muff that other punt, his poor decision making did that.
Luck did not get the Giants 20 points and the Niners 17. That was a hard fought game. Live with it.

Eli should have been intercepted twice if Gholdson would stop taking out his own guy
luck.
The ball bounced in such a way that it ricocheted off the ground and went towards his knee. That was luck.

Coughlin said himself something to the effect of “Neither team was seemingly putting itself in a position to win”
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
the ball just bounced the Giants way tonight
Lissyyyyy - January 22, 2012
fumble recoveries, 49ers secondary players colliding on sure INTs
and Ginn had to be hurt for Williams to take his place.
And I’m sorry, isn’t it “luck” that the ball bounced a certain way towards Williams on the score that gave the Giants the lead??
Both teams played well, and I don’t have a problem with the Giants winning, but they did get some bounces tonight.
foyesboys - January 23, 2012
O god. Coughlin just tied Landry's road playoff victory record at 7.
ugggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
jakezze01 - January 22, 2012
I don't
think the 49ers defense is going to be that good next year. They lived off turnovers this year and gave up a lot of yards to good QBs. Their offense won’t be good either until they get a new QB.

Giants vs Pats is like
watching 2 d-bags fight. Who do you root for? You hope maybe they both knock the sh#t out of each other, and both lose somehow. Can’t believe it’s the freaking Giants and Pats again…

jakezze01 - January 23, 2012
whta a shame for the Niners..2 turnovers killed them the Giants did nothing
on offense in the 2nd half..and then the turnover that wasn’t…forward progress my @$$, THAT was a fumble. Go Pats or the off season will be unbearable.
fiverings37 - January 23, 2012
A season that just keeps getting wrost
Giants did what they had to do, but how does that team always get the ball to bounce their way. Its so unreal
