Episode 1.2 hits the airwaves with more Cowboys goodness that I hope you are growing to expect.
This week, I tackle the disdain I have for the 2012 NFL Playoffs, including a nice new twist of the knife for the backs of all Dallas Cowboys fans. Also, head coach Jason Garrett held a press conference on Thursday afternoon, introducing his new assistant coaches. Garrett, new offensive coordinator/line coach Bill Callahan and secondary coach Jerome Henderson all took to the microphone for statements and a Q&A session. There was actually something interesting to come out of a Garrett presser!
For the second week in a row, BTB's Chia Crack joined me to talk about draft prospects. We went over his big board and spoke of a couple (current) dark horse candidates for Dallas at the #14 slot.
Follow the jump for a listen. I'm still working on getting the podcast available via iTunes. For now, upgrade your QuickTime and bear with me. Thanks for the listen, see you in the comments.

Great stuff KD & Chia
Antonio S - January 20, 2012
podcast-can read it faster and more clearly than listen to it
hi kd
no offense, but i dont like the podcast format. i’d much rather READ what you have to write than listen to what you have to say. it takes less time, and allows me to easily go back and re-read a section. going back to re-listen to a particular section is sometimes difficult. i think for a columnist like you, a column is a much better format than a podcast. now, if you had visuals, charts, graphics, etc., then maybe a podcast with video might make some sense
thanks for the good work and the effort
hiredavid61 - January 20, 2012
the other side of the coin...
On the other hand – I really enjoyed the podcast format. Great for getting me through my Friday afternoon at work, and the more conversational style really suits the draft bits with chia
I big thumbs up from me!
TheLondonCowboy - January 20, 2012
yeah I love the podcast
I am addicted to it now
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
well dont slack on the draft posts now your doing podcasts!
thx for your work on the draft & it saves me a ton of time getting player info
DCNation73 - January 20, 2012
I won't slack
I really want to do one on blogtalkradio, maybe tomorrow I will do one
KD that cool with you if I started a podcast? you would still have me on your show right?
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
You guys keep it up
BTB represtin HARD
Bermystar - January 20, 2012
Hey hiredavid- no offense taken. Trying something new, and everyone of course has their preferences. Appreciate the input.

KD
Can’t tell you how much I enjoy these. You and Chia are great. Love the podcast, it personalizes the post. Keep it up. I feel as though I’m listening to friends talk. Wish you could set up an interactive one with all of us sending in questions.
pfloyd1 - January 20, 2012
+1
Antonio S - January 20, 2012
thats kinda how it feels
just like two friends talking
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Hate the Podcast....
Same here no offense… but I cannot listen at work. I work in a frontline setting and cannot have my speakers on during business hours. I HAVE to read all the news. I have no option… So sadly I will not get to read about the presser here. I will have to go somewhere that types it out for me.
ProudBoyzLifer - January 20, 2012
missed the first podcast ,
loved hearing Chia speak, good talk bud. enjoyed.
thanks KD..
scotscowboyfan - January 20, 2012
Very nice
One thing I found interesting was that JJ wasn’t at the press conference.
After listening to Chia, we may have a very difficult decision to make when our pick comes up. DB,Center or DE?
DarthGrumpa - January 20, 2012
At 14, it shouldn't be difficult at all
Simply select the BPA on your board, it’s that easy.
Terry - January 20, 2012
oh its that easy?
what if Luke Kuelchy is the BPA on the board? what then?
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
KD I butchered that name, damn I should have looked it up
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
You don't sound near as yankee as I thought you would.
That’s a good thing to a Texas redneck.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
hahahahahaha
what do I sound like?
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Pure Texan.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
lol I sound like a Texan? cool
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Miss read it, I sound Texan, you don't much of an accent.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
*don't have
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
no not really
I guess thats a good thing, but whenever I am north of NY or south of NY, people know where i am from, its crazy
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Chia, you certainly don't sound like someone from Long Island where I grew up. LOL
pfloyd1 - January 20, 2012
I live about an hour, hour and half away from the city
so i dont have that city accent
more of a jersey accent maybe?
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Trade down or take him
Terry - January 20, 2012
you draft DeCastro & ignore the board! well thats what Terry meant to say
DCNation73 - January 20, 2012
No, I never said that
Terry - January 20, 2012
well at that point chia ill get under the bridge with a net loil )
IRONRAVEN - January 20, 2012
lol you might want to
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
At which position?
It is comparing apples to oranges.
DarthGrumpa - January 20, 2012
no, you take the BPA at a position of need
and the Cowboys have many positions of need
Terry - January 20, 2012
Of the three suggested by Chia,
they are all positions of need and the BPA, which would you choose?
DarthGrumpa - January 20, 2012
Whoever is the BPA at a position of need
You don’t draft by need, thats how you end up with busts and not great players
Terry - January 20, 2012
There is only one BPA, by definition.
If there is a guy available at each of the 3 positions of need, you take the one who you have graded the highest on your draft board.
fs65 - January 23, 2012
I agree there
in the first Krunchtime I talked about that a hybrid of both theories is the way I would go
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Do you see Dallas trading down
If the BC LB (I can’t spell or say that name) is the BPA? I’d have to think the try and go down to 21, no?
Rohpuri - January 20, 2012 via mobile
maybe
but idk if they will get too many takers unless Philly wants to move up so Dallas doesnt trade that pick to someone else
I bet Philly loves that kid
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Man
this is great you guys. Job well done again.
BrickTop - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Chia needs to be front page writer.
His expertise on college players and the draft is better than 99% of the so called experts I’ve seen or read. Grab him Dave, before some other blog does.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
Mocking The Draft
has a position open, that get this, PAYS
I doubt I inquire for it because I would have to talk about college players in general, I prefer to talk about the draft from a Cowboys stand point
but I wonder how much they pay
thanks man
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
The guy that runs Mocking the draft needs you....
cause what I’ve read, he sucks bad…… real bad.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
yeah I have some issues with MTD too
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
He said Von Miller wasn't going in the top 10
I told him he was full of sh!t, so he ban me. I said as nice as I could.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
I think Terry got into it on there with him too actually
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Hard to believe Terry would argue with someone.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
The 1% being Mayock of course
Terry - January 20, 2012
Mayock is the best, Bunting and McShay
those are my guys
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Terry has a man crush on Mayock, he better hope Romo doesn't find out.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
lol Mayock is real good
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Mayock rules
Antonio S - January 20, 2012
Matock definitey the best. I like Bunting, but really Chia, you like McShay. He reminds me of Kyper.
pfloyd1 - January 20, 2012
Kiper
pfloyd1 - January 20, 2012
What about him?
He sucks.
Mikellie - January 20, 2012
McShay isnt like Kiper
McShay isn’t brash and over the top, he is a scout and knows his stuff
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
+1
i agree on Chia’s work on college players & the amount of time that has to take
DCNation73 - January 20, 2012
too much time
hopefully there is a year we pick 32
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Chia, you're very astute with your player analysis
This is your calling.
Rohpuri - January 20, 2012 via mobile
thanks
yeah, wish I could get a job somewhere doing that
that would be my dream

KD Drummond - January 20, 2012 via Android app
what was the question asked that lead Garrett to say he'll give up playcalling after 2012?
DCNation73 - January 20, 2012
good question
I am going over to DC.com to listen to that conference now
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
He never said that,
he said at some point he might give up the play calling. That means between now and 2035.
DIRE WOLF - January 20, 2012
Just if he could ever see himself giving it up while still a head coach
KD Drummond - January 20, 2012 via Android app
How long did it take Fat Andy to give up the play calling duties?
Antonio S - January 20, 2012
I think after 2006 or 2007
Rohpuri - January 20, 2012 via mobile
He figures the Mayan calendar end of the world scenario means he won't be needed after 2012.
Tom Ryle - January 20, 2012
He's a sneaky fella
Rohpuri - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Excellent work
1) I agree KD, I think the defense is going to be much better in 2012 with Rob having a full off-season.
2) I think it’s a good sign that Jason’s considering relinquishing play calling duties once there’s a comfort level between him, Romo, and Bill.
3) Chia, I like the Nick Perry-Terrell Suggs comparisons.
4) I do agree Brockers isn’t fat like Spears, he’s more muscular and athletic. I think, if the Cowboys pick him in the first rd, they should try to trade down, because 14 might be a bit to high.
5) I agree, the RKG thing is blown out of proportion. It was a mistake for Dallas to take Hernandez completely off their board. I hope they don’t do it with Kirkpatrick.
6) Chia, are you from NJ? After hearing you speak, I’d be shocked if you said you’re not from NJ. I’m from NJ, so that’s why NJ’s my first guess.
Rohpuri - January 20, 2012 via mobile
I live in the tri-state area
I live in New York, but NJ and PA border me
so thats why I have the jersey sound
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
My next guess was somewhere close to Philly
Rohpuri - January 20, 2012 via mobile
well philly should be added to NJ anyway haha
thebigham - January 20, 2012
Philly?/
no way son
I am faaaaaaaaaaaar away from there
Orange County New York, Middletown area
google map it or something and you can see how close I am to NJ and PA
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012

but I was born in NJ, lived there till I was 13
Rohpuri - January 21, 2012 via mobile
KD,
I loved the comments on Callahan and Henderson. Sounds as if Callahan is really excited with the prospect of molding a young great OL. Henderson has the right mindset as well, but he can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear with the talent we currently have in the secondary.
I just don’t see Ryan switching to a base 4-3, so Kuelchy would upset me as the pick. There are too many other good options at #14.
I really like Brockers too, now that he’s declared. He reminds me of a bigger version of Rat, which isn’t too bad.
Konz at Center is the equivalent of DeCastro at Guard. If DeCastro were not there at #14, I wouldn’t complain if they drafted Konz.
Perry sounds like a stud if he checks out medically.
The beautiful part of this draft is that there are really good choices at #14 and with our cornucopia of needs, BPA is the way to go. We’ll fill a need with that strategy.
I’m with Terry though, if DeCastro is there, I’d have that card at the podium 1 second after we go on the clock.
pfloyd1 - January 20, 2012
Very cool
I was able to listen to this on my IPhone while walking around town. People were looking at me funny because I was walking around with a permanent grin while listening.
One.Cool.Customer - January 20, 2012 via mobile
KD - puttin' the multi in multimedia.
Great job, man. And Chia probably needs at least a monthly slot to talk about the players – after the draft, he can break down the signees and who he likes and doesn’t.
Tom Ryle - January 20, 2012
yeah KD killed it
thats what I was aiming for, something on the regular with KD and I wanted to start a podcast on blogtalkradio where I get a full hour to talk about some stuff too
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Tom, check your email
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
As I listen again!
Tom Ryle - January 20, 2012
lol
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Great job KD and love Chia on there
Birddog26 - January 20, 2012
thanks
Archie Barberio - January 20, 2012
Good stuff
Next year we will be listening to Cowboy playoff krunchtime! Can I get an AMEN? note* Chia is KD’s new pet cat. hehehe….
letsgtld - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Good Show Guys
It really does feel like two friends just taking Cowboys. The draft breakdown is excellent. With the various players possibly available at 14 the discussion here will likely get hot and heavy right up to the time of the pick. Well done KD and Chia. I look forward to more.
