My buddy, a diehard Skins devotee, has said a rumor has surfaced that puts Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday to the Skins for Fred Davis, the Skins 2012 2nd rounder and their 2013 1st rounder.
just saw the second broncos fumble. wish dallas had defensive players who would gang tackle and strip the ball. doesn't matter that play was ruled dead. the hustle was awesome.
My opinion is that you keep your core, and your core are VERY few but important guys. Everyone else you use an economic efficiency argument. So Romo, Ware, Witten, there’s no reasonable trade you can offer me. Sean Lee might enter that list if he becomes the battlefield general of the defense like the Saints’ Vilma.
Felix? I’ll trade him. Doug Free? I’m listening. Miles Austin? Absolutely love him, but there’s a price.
The Patriots who are famous for trading guys employ this strategy, but even they keep their core together. There’s no price you can offer them for Tom Brady. Logan Mankins, a 29 year old guard would seemingly be a prime target to trade but instead they made him the highest paid guard in the league at $51 million because he’s one of their core guys.
I think you have to know who makes up the heart of your team and keep them together while shifting the pieces around them.
I would definitely trade the following guys:
1) Felix
2) Free
3) Austin
4) Marty B
I would listen to a trade offer for the following guys:
1) Jenkins
2) Ratliff
going to have to trust Tebow. He got them this far. way to much option. Pats allready handled that in the first gm. Too late now. It will take a huge God intervention miracle to win now. But hey, don’t forget the Buffalo Frank Reich gm!
Seems to be the only reason they’re listed there instead of WR is their size. Neither seems to do much in the way of traditional TE duties beyond receiving (although I confess ignorance of most of New England’s games).
Patriots D isn't lacking talent. It's just really young at LB and secondary.
This is their coming out party. Belicheck is also getting ahead of the next trend in the NFL with all the rule changes to aid more offense:
1) go back to the 4-3 defense
2) get young athletic dbs and LBs
3) play less zone and more man coverage
with a few more pieces. But I wonder if JJ and JG would be willing to change to a 3-4 seeing how we just got RR & Henderson onboard. Lets see who wins the Lombardie
I actually agree Ware could be awesome as a 4-3 END
If you think about it, under Wade Phillips, we used 4-3 allignments in our nickle package. Ware and Spencer would line up as ends, with Ratliff and Spears lining up as DTs.
That was our base defense against passing teams if I’m not mistaken.
I would really think hard about selecting Vontaez Burfict
He’s not a criminal or thug. He’s just got to learn how to channel his aggression on the field, something Suggs had to learn.
Imagine this Ryan package:
1) Ware and Spencer/Butler on the line as ends;
2) Ratliff and Brent/Lissenmore as DTs
3) Carter, Lee, Burfict lineup as 4-3 LBs: Carter’s the Will, Lee’s the Mike, and Burfict is the Sam
The Cowboys are not in a position to transfer into a 4-3 now. Carter panning out is a huge leap of faith then you’d have to find another linebacker and another DE.
Quite frankly I think that Spencer is a better DE than an OLB and I hope he’s signed by a 4-3 team. With him gone, I believe the best course of action is to double-down on the 3-4 and try to find the best OLB possible (Bruce Irvin, Melvin Ingram) to make this scheme work.
Thanks man, I needed a really good laugh this morning. Reading that made me spit up my cinnamon apple cheerios. I wonder if they go good with a 6 of bud light? I’ll have to ask our world class top 5 6th year starting QB who has won as many playoff games as Tiny Timmy. He’d probably know.
I think Laurent Robinson is a better player than Demarius Thomas. Thomas’ status in 2011 were worse than Dez’ rookie season. And I think most of his big plays come from teams committing safeties to defend Denver’s run because they’ve had no respect for Tebow’s passing attack.
Look I hate Marty B too but Marty B was taken two years before Gronkowski. Jerry gave the team Sean Lee instead of Gronk. If you want to hate on Jerty at least be half way honest about it. Look, you win some and you lose some. That’s the way the draft works. But let’s not act like he chose Martellus Bennett over Gronkowski. They had a first round grade on Lee but a second on Gronkowski that year, yeah Bennett sucks but it’s not like they passed up a cant miss guy for him. Geez.
Tom Brady is pretty awesome

There was, against the Raiders in 2001 or 2002.

I love the underdogs and at least it would be another win for the NFC East. They beat us twice, so they have to be really really good (sarcasm).
Mikellie - January 14, 2012
Just don't want the Packers there
However, even more so I don’t want the 49ers there winning #6. Either way, as long as it is the AFC that wins the super bowl I am cool with that.
ProBowlFactory - January 14, 2012
Well...
I’ll be rooting for the AFC in this years super bowl. I hate all of the NFC teams that remain. Saints were the only team I didn’t mind being there…

We need a TE#2 for this offense. Get one in the later rounds.

That's got to be like #12 on our list of needs.
Phillips is a decent TE.
Mikellie - January 14, 2012
What about Fred Davis?
Watching him this year he looked like what we wish Bennett would have been.
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
He's pretty good.
I wouldn’t mind having him on our team. I just think we have a lot of other needs that need to be addressed first.
Mikellie - January 14, 2012
No argument here
I like me some Jon Phillips! Just throwing it out there because I think Fred Davis played mighty well this season.
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Phillips works for now.
Kevin L - January 14, 2012
The thought that Bennett may not be on the team much longer is already an improvement.

too many needs elsewhere to justify a high pick in a TE
somebodyquiet - January 14, 2012

You don’t give up your core guys.
Romo, Witten, and Ware mean too much to this team. You keep your leaders together as long as you can
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Unless you can get more value from them
Than what their future value would give you.
I’d take the Seahawks’ first rounder for Witten.

would Seahawks do that?
well, they did trade a 2nd rd pick for Charlie Whitehurst
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile

kindablue - January 14, 2012

My opinion is that you keep your core, and your core are VERY few but important guys. Everyone else you use an economic efficiency argument. So Romo, Ware, Witten, there’s no reasonable trade you can offer me. Sean Lee might enter that list if he becomes the battlefield general of the defense like the Saints’ Vilma.

If you think about it, under Wade Phillips, we used 4-3 allignments in our nickle package. Ware and Spencer would line up as ends, with Ratliff and Spears lining up as DTs.
That was our base defense against passing teams if I’m not mistaken.
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
I would really think hard about selecting Vontaez Burfict
He’s not a criminal or thug. He’s just got to learn how to channel his aggression on the field, something Suggs had to learn.
Imagine this Ryan package:
1) Ware and Spencer/Butler on the line as ends;
2) Ratliff and Brent/Lissenmore as DTs
3) Carter, Lee, Burfict lineup as 4-3 LBs: Carter’s the Will, Lee’s the Mike, and Burfict is the Sam
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
The 4-3 argument held up better with Spencer
I do not see Butler succeeding at all in a 4-3.
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Again I agree
just bringing up conversation starters
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
seems
He trying develop a strong 4 man rush to not have to blitz…to many qbs make you pay when you blitz now .
RKO - January 14, 2012
Whats sad, I think we could beat every team left in the playoffs
Oh well I guess its next year for us
djthumpl - January 14, 2012
We lost to every team on our schedule with a winning record, save for the win against SF.
I doubt we’d beat any of these playoff teams.
kwentin - January 14, 2012
Agreed
kindablue - January 14, 2012
I'm glass half full guy
Maybe we make those plays in the end of the games that we couldn’t during the season, or maybe not.
djthumpl - January 14, 2012
This team is a year or two away from contending again.
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
LOL!
Jimbohts - January 15, 2012
Billy is slapping Denver's defense in the face using Aaron Hernandez successfully as a RB against their D
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
They should just leave Tebow alone
and let him watch the master at work
letsgtld - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Wow
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Run the score up, thats what I do to kids in Madden lol
djthumpl - January 14, 2012
The Patriots will run it up
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Don't like the other team scoring, play better defense
no one but themselves to blame here.
kwentin - January 14, 2012
knock on wood, there's not a prayer's chance Denver comes back down 35 with 12 minutes left
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Demarius Thomas was a good pick for Denver
If we couldn’t get Dez, I really wanted Thomas
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Wasn't a fan and I'm still not a fan
I think Laurent Robinson is a better player than Demarius Thomas. Thomas’ status in 2011 were worse than Dez’ rookie season. And I think most of his big plays come from teams committing safeties to defend Denver’s run because they’ve had no respect for Tebow’s passing attack.
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Thomas every bit as talented as Dez and Calvin
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
I wanted Devin McCourty if we couldnt land Dez
Archie Barberio - January 14, 2012
McCourty was my Cowboys pick. I actually didn’t have Dez on my Cowboys board because I didn’t think he’d make it out of the top-10.
My board was:
Iupati
Pouncey
McCourtey
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Which
Round was Gronk drafted in
BrickTop - January 14, 2012 via mobile
1st. Hernandez was a 2nd.
TheBlueBaron - January 14, 2012
I though Hernandez was 4th?
Lissyyyyy - January 14, 2012
Gronk was a 2nd round pick
Pick #42
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Gronk was a 2nd rounder
Hernandez was a 4th rounder
Jimmy Graham was a 3rd rounder
Finley was a 3rd rounder
somebodyquiet - January 14, 2012
and we took Martellus Bennett in the 2nd
that is sad, what a waste
look at that list
Archie Barberio - January 14, 2012
we also found witten in the 3rd
you win some you lose some lol
somebodyquiet - January 14, 2012
Wasn't Jermichael Finley in the 2008 draft?
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
3rd round
But in fairness I don’t remember anyone predicting this level of success for him. I can hardly hold it against Dallas.
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
Anyone else think we should draft a TE in the 3rd or 4th?
BrickTop - January 14, 2012 via mobile
I really want the kid from Temple or the kid from Louisiana Laffeyette
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
Ladarius Green, Brian Linthicum?
BrickTop - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Over. officially I mean
Its was done from the word go, realistically.
kwentin - January 14, 2012
This was The Year of The QB and The Year of The TE
Today:
1) 8 Tds scored by TEs: Gronk 3, Davis 2, Graham 2, Hernandez 2.
2) 14 TDs put up by QBs: Brady 6, Smith 4 (1 Rush Td), Brees 4.
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
I think Garrett deserves credit in being a bit ahead of his time
He believed in the 2TE offense. Unfortunately his GM gave him Marty B instead of Gronkowski.
Blue Eyed Devil - January 14, 2012
agreed
Rohpuri - January 14, 2012 via mobile
What?
Look I hate Marty B too but Marty B was taken two years before Gronkowski. Jerry gave the team Sean Lee instead of Gronk. If you want to hate on Jerty at least be half way honest about it. Look, you win some and you lose some. That’s the way the draft works. But let’s not act like he chose Martellus Bennett over Gronkowski. They had a first round grade on Lee but a second on Gronkowski that year, yeah Bennett sucks but it’s not like they passed up a cant miss guy for him. Geez.
